My mum keeps sharing photos of my newborn on Facebook

This really annoys me, every time I put a photo of my newborn in Facebook my mum will share it. Her Facebook looks exactly like mine now!
Also I'm not sure I like the fact She shares my photos as I don't even know what her privacy settings are like.

Would this annoy anyone else or just me?

Ask her to stop?

Mscandylamb · 08/02/2019 23:50

I would be vex! Politely ask her to stop or say you will take action (which ofcourse im sure you dont want to do).

DonkeyAtemyHomework · 08/02/2019 23:52

When you share, you know what you're doing right?

DorothyZbornak · 08/02/2019 23:53

Restrict her on your posts.

LovingLola · 08/02/2019 23:54

Maybe stop posting on Facebook?

TinselAndKnickers · 08/02/2019 23:55

If your privacy settings are good, people who aren't your friends won't be able to see the pictures when she shares them

JuniperBeer · 08/02/2019 23:57

I think you can set it so your photos can reach friends only. Have a look.
On the flip side, you’re putting stuff on Facebook, you clearly want others to see the photos. She’s proud. If you don’t want others seeing it, don’t share it.

newprepper · 08/02/2019 23:57

I think this is lovely. She's proud and happy. If you really hate it I'd ask her to stop.

lovely36 · 09/02/2019 00:09

She's your mom. She loves you the same way you love your child. If it bothers you speak to her about it, you're an adult.

Singlenotsingle · 09/02/2019 00:11

She obviously thinks you don't mind, as you post photos yourself! Check her privacy settings.

Littlestbee · 09/02/2019 03:23

I have tried speaking to her about it but it's fallen on deaf ears.
My Facebook just has a select few friends on it so I don't want to stop posting but I'm not sure hers is the same.

Share to said select friends via WhatsApp or FB messenger group instead?

PepperSteak · 09/02/2019 07:34

Get over yourself all newborns look the same anyway.

Littlestbee · 09/02/2019 07:35

@PepperSteak Lovely, that's very helpful!

Alter your post settings so your mum can't see anything you post.

Fancyacuppaluv · 09/02/2019 07:44

I’m pretty sure you can alter the setting so pictures can’t be shared (or perhaps I’ve made that up Confused).

Either way, can’t you just talk to her about it? She’s obviously a very proud Grandma who just wants to show her grandchild off.

Fancyacuppaluv · 09/02/2019 07:45

I meant to add, no, it wouldn’t annoy me, I’d be delighted if my DM took that much interest in my DC’s!

BertrandRussell · 09/02/2019 07:47

What is the isssue?

OnceUponAGiraffe · 09/02/2019 07:47

My mum can’t see what I post on Facebook through some editing of settings. Very helpful for such situations...

ShowOfHands · 09/02/2019 07:50

You can change your own settings so that she can't do this.

EverybodysTalkingAtMe · 09/02/2019 07:51

Anything you put on FB can go right round the world, no matter what your privacy settings. If you leave your posts shareable, they can spread on forever.

You have a select few friends? How many? 6? 50? And have they all got their privacy settings locked down?

The rule is, don't put anything on a public forum that you don't want to be public. Facebook own your data, not you.

QueenOfCatan · 09/02/2019 07:59

As others have said, limit her to seeing nothing and when she asks why tell her.

Jess74 · 09/02/2019 08:01

I think you're being a bit naive if you think you can control any image you put on the Internet. So given you're happy for photos to be on there I can see why she would think it was OK to share them.

BifsWif · 09/02/2019 08:07

Set your posts to friends only, the share option is only there when they’re set to public.

BertrandRussell · 09/02/2019 08:16

Yep- nothing says “So glad you love your new grandchild” more than blocking her on FB!
