Ok so I know Butlins isn't everyone's cup of tea but we have ended up booking a weekend away here soon and want to know any top tips in advance.

What are the beat activities?

Anything to avoid?

Packing tips?

TIA

Which one are you going to, and are you self catering or having your meals included? Also shay accommodation have you booked ?

@Applesaregreenandred
We're at Skegness. No dining plan and in an apartment. Silver style I believe.

Book a table if you plan to eat out.

Take lots of pennies and park the kids in the penny arcade for an hour of peace and quiet!

Our kids enjoyed the high ropes.

I think silver apartments don't include towels, so you'll need those for showers and for the pool. Take a million 2p coins. You won't see much of your DC's Grin. It can get really windy there, so we found hats very beneficial. There is a gate onto the beach but I don't think it's that obvious (haven't actually found it yet). Have fun.

Oh OK. We had several holidays in Butlins when DS was young but this was at Minehead. I don't know Skegness.

I would suggest finding out about all available activities / entertainment programme before you go if poss or at least read it as soon as you get there as some things will need booking in advance.

Also - work put your budget - there are lots of free activities but others you pay for and it can end up costing a lot if you eat on site, do paid activities and play the arcade games. We used to self cater or walk into Minehead to eat at a cheap pub.

Its probably easier to stick to free activities with younger children. (Assuming that there are still included activities- it's been a few years since we last went)

My DC loved Butlins when they were little (we went Gold Apartment and did SC first time then meals included after . The resturant was the Yaught Club, the food was pretty good TBH)

The only activities that were chargable was the GoCarts.
You need to queue for the shows (get there early)

Oh and the RedCoats were bloody brilliant , one was happy to chat to my DS about Pokemon for ages .
Obviously you get good and bad but the ones where we went were really good.

The swimming pool at Skegnes was bloody brilliant. There are huge queues in the morning so we tended to do another activity first think and swim after lunch.

By dds were 5 and 7 when we went. They very much enjoyed the fencing and circus skills sessions.

The beach is stony so take something to sit on.

The queues for the evening entertainment is ridiculously long. We ended up skipping it. If we went again I'd consider getting one of the queue jumper tickets.

The Skyline Gang show we went to was quite misogynistic and I wouldn't go to another.

Have been to Bognor several times because the kids love it. We only stay in the hotel though, the s/c looks awful.

Following with interest going Skegness just for tots at Christmas
