Hey guys,
I’m a first time mum and I have a 3 month old I’m planning on taking him swimming for the first time, I was just wondering if anyone has any advice on how to put him and and what kind of baby float is best to use ? 🙈

Disposable or reusable nappy, neoprene ‘happy nappy’ over the top, and then a neoprene ‘babywarma’/‘warm in one’/wetsuit. Definitely double nappy until baby is a very reliably potty trained preschooler (many private pools have this rule anyway) - you do not want to be the reason the pool is closed! A wetsuit helps baby to float and keeps them warm so they can stay in the pool a bit longer. At three months they should be happy enough in a regular leisure pool (30 degrees plus) so no need to seek out a private super-heated pool. No additional float devices at this age, just let him kick and splash as you hold him. Those baby seats can tip and in no way help a child learn to swim.

Swim nappy AND NAPPY COVER. A nappy cover has a tight waist band and bands which seal on the legs. This is because although swim nappies catch poo they don't always trap it!
Also a swimsuit which keeps them warm was a must for my two. They screamed the place down when they were cold. So they had neoprene suits with arms which helped.

Finally floats aren't always the best as they keep a lot of baby above water and they tend to get cold faster, it's best to keep them in the water to near the shoulders.

Lastly, well done! Mine both screamed the first couple of times, but persevere with it it's their favourite activity now!
