Amazon Pantry

I do the majority of my grocery shopping online and whilst I use Amazon for a lot of things haven't ventured into using 'Amazon Pantry'.

If you have used it whats your experience, do you have any top tips for getting the best out of using it or should I just stick with what I know?

I think my main questions are :
Can you get the majority of things you would normally buy from a supermarket?
Will I have to constantly do a comparison to get the best deals or is pricing generally OK?
Is it delivered as a normal Amazon delivery (ie in a big cardboard box with loads of air pockets)?
Do they send substitutions in the delivery or if it's out of stock it's not listed in the first place?
Do things go in and out of stock a lot or is it usually OK with the staples?

That's a lot of questions for something so mundane!

There are bargains but you have to buy/spend a certain amount which isn't ideal when you only need a couple of things. Also the multipack of crisps were popped open and due to go out of date that week.

I've used it once. You have to order absolutely loads which is a bit of a problem because you then have to find somewhere to store it. You also need to be in when it arrives because it's a huge heavy box - we don't have a car so getting it back from the sorting office was not fun.

It's a nice idea but I wouldn't do it again unless you could just order things separately.

I'm not so keen. I did a biggish shop, but the chilled food wasn't kept chilled and it was the same sort of quality that I would get from the local Morrisons. (which is where the local Amazon Pantry stuff comes from). The prices weren't that brilliant.

I think it's good for an emergency loo roll situation

I've used it when I've had offer codes, mostly to bulk buy coffee pods or dog food. I wouldn't use it like a normal online shop though.

Mekitty for things like loo roll, washing powder, dishwasher tabs, cat litter and food etc I use Amazon subscribe and save. If you have 5 items or more you get 15% off the order. It's amazing the stuff you can subscribe to actually. Can get make up, perfume etc let it arrive then can it off the order for next time.

@FreshBoomBatImaTouchIt Yep, I have a massive Amazon Subscribe and Save and I have loo rolls on that, but if you run out (I haven't yet, but who knows) and you need something like loo rolls, kitchen roll, lightbulbs etc quick and need them delivered then it's okay for that.

Is it bad that I was considering it for alcohol the other day? I'd had a tough day. Didn't bother though, as the prices are better with the more traditional online supermarkets.

Also, for cheapo stuff, worth keeping an eye on Approved Food. They had more or less adequate loo roll for @ 10p a while back, and they sometimes have good prices.

Approved Food is brilliant. Actually now I think of it I got a litre bottle of Bailey's from Amazon pantry before Xmas 2017. I'd ordered 3 miniatures (me and dh barely drink but will toast Christmas day at midnight) but they sent that instead for the same price. Also do some bargains on toiletries (Olay brightening wipes for a £1 and big tub of Nivea for 70p). Its always worth shopping around and not just sticking to the same places/websites. We're using muscle Food for chicken breasts at the moment. The quality is superb.

I fancy Muscle food but I don't have much freezer space. It looks good.

With Approved Food you have to pick up the right things at the right times and allow for postage, but you can get some great stuff if you hit it right!

You're absolutely right about shopping around.
