Would university student support do this ?

I’m at a complete loss .

I’ve had a nervous breakdown last few weeks and I’ve been signed off uni until things settle a bit - so a whole year . Moving back to my mums on Tuesday . I’m stuck at my flat as I’ve severe anxiety , can’t even get to the corner shop really .

I’ve also now come down with horrendous diarrhoea - ie I’m on day 4 now . GP surgery have written me a script for cocodamol and sleeping pills , it’s literally only 5 mins in a taxi , 5 mins walk to the surgery and then 10 minutes in the chemist . I can’t face going out though - have spent all day today and yesterday in bed hardly eating a damn thing.

I don’t know if Halls of residence staff or student support would go and pick up the prescriptions for me ? Sounds silly but I don’t know if they would be happy to do that .

Would the chemist deliver?

I don’t know - I thought they’d have some sort of policy saying only for the elderly and housebound or something - I don’t know if agoraphobia comes into that . I’ve slept most of the morning and had weird dreams. Could easy fall asleep again ! Surgery and pharmacy reopen at 2 so I’ll start phoning then and try and get a shower too .

It's very unlikely that university staff would collect a prescription for you, or that a chemist would hand it over to someone other than a family member. I'd call the chemist and see what they can suggest.

If you got to the GP's surgery it may be they could drop the medication off at the surgery for you to collect there if it's closer, for example.

That's just not so, pharmacies often hand prescription meds to people who are not the patient or family member; kindly neighbours collecting for older people , people who are too I'll to collect their own.
Suggestions-
Yes, ask the pharmacy. Some will, some only if you're signed up for delivery in advance.
Another student , lots of kindly folk will help out , and be glad to, if you ask.Offer to pay their taxi fare?
Student welfare /support- less likely to be set up for this, but ask them - they may come up with a solution none of us have thought of.And will be glad to be put in the picture, in case there's anything else they can do to support you.
Student union welfare officer - you may not have met them, but they probably have one - ring the SU, or any student helpline, and just keep asking if there's anyone you can speak to about student welfare problems.
Ask the doctors surgery how the meds can be got to you- they may be able to send the prescription electronically to a pharmacy which they know delivers.

Sorry you're having a hard time. There will be a solution.

Unlike student support would be able to, but your Halls warden could possibly help and your Students’ Union are definitely worth asking.

Doctors surgery have asked me to go up there for 5.15 to get checked out , so suppose will just have to swallow my fears and force myself up there. Will get a taxi and see if I can cope by putting music on my phone or something. I’ve managed a shower at least so that’s a start .

That is a start.
It probably won't be as bad as you fear.

Just hold on, certain time you'll be back safe in your room again.

And with the right meds, life might look and feel quite a bit better in a few days.

But ring/ email student support, not now, maybe tomorrow. They'll want to help, and you don't know what they can do till you ask. They emailed each of DC's lecturers, to let them know DC was off sick. And suggested further support.

Thinking of you, and sending good wishes for your foray to Drs. Let us know how it went.
