Is this symptomatic of type 1 diabetes?

DD is 2. Has been a big sleeper since she was newborn. She's only 4 months off 3 and she still naps for 2.5 hours in the afternoon as well as 12 or so hours at night.

She's quite a sweaty kid and in spring time, when it started getting warm, was always asking for a drink at bedtime (as well as throughout the day). I only give her water but when I put her to her, she drinks half to 3/4 of a water bottle in one go. Then if she happens to wake during the night, she will ask for another drink.

I've always been amazed by how much she drinks but then my older DC I have to constantly remind to have a drink, for instance she comes home from school with a full water bottle.

I've heard about tiredness and thirst being symptoms of this but DD has always slept loads so that hadn't really crossed my mind as a concern. It's just the fact she drinks loads that has prompted me to ask. Again, this may be perfectly normal but I'd be grateful for some advice. Thanks :)

Unusual tiredness or thirst would be a sign. Sudden onset thirst. It sounds like this is a normal pattern for your DD.

A fingerprick test at the GP is 30 seconds. Go get one to be sure.

Type 1 develops quickly and is deadly within weeks, so if this has been a pattern for most of her life if won't be type 1. Could still be something else though.

Deadly if untreated that is
