Not being 20 anymore...

So my DH and I were discussing the dogs weight. I've recently cut his food intake slightly as he is getting older and it's harder to keep his weight at the right level.

I joked that he is like me, as I've got older (I'm 41) my body has changed and I've found that my diet has needed to change to stay at a healthy weight. I said "im not 20 anymore".

He asked if I'd really like to be 20 again. I said I'd like the energy and being able to perform well on minimum sleep but I'd like to keep my experience.

Just musing but what would you keep from being 20, what would you ditch?

I’d keep the social life, frequency of sex and studying (preferred it to paid work). I’d ditch the binge drinking and shitty temp jobs.

Hmm, the sex life definitely Hmm
Also the ability to drink but not get hangovers that last days and impact on every aspect of my life Confused

No hangovers!

My skin.

SassitudeandSparkle · 02/02/2019 18:15

I would ditch the worrying, I could be a bit anxious in my late teens and early twenties! Would keep the rest of my lifestyle though, which seemed to easily encompass working, socialising yet still able to save money for house deposit.

The sex!

Dimsumlosesum · 02/02/2019 18:17

Not having to try at all maintaining the same weight. Smooth skin. Energy.

I like my life now (mostly), but yes - loved the sex, the ability to survive on no sleep, the drugs I took, the social life I had, the way I looked, and how thin I was (although, no boobs back then). Smoking and drinking.
An alive father. Intense full on friendships and relationships.
Far fewer responsibilities (no mortgage for a start!) so much more disposable income.

However, didn't have DD til I was in my 30s,and happy to have given all of that up to have her (why I don't know, as she's just walked through the room grumping at me!). And I do like having boobs!

I wouldn't swap my 40s for my 20s. Yes the lack of hangovers and grey hair was nice but I was cripplingly shy and unsure of myself back then, I'm so much more confident and happy now.

DP wanting it every day 😶
