I bought a keter shed a few years ago. Really like it. Has a light strip in the roof so is not dark and dingy so the spiders don’t like it as much. Came with 2 shelves but you can’t buy extras in the uk is the only downside. A lot less hassle than a wooden shed as only needs washing down and not painting.

Unhelpfully placemarking, as I need to know this too.

I will throw metal ones into your indecision Grin

leightweight, easy to assembly, sturdy, paintable

Should we be buying plastic if there's a natural alternative?

Is why I went for wood. It fits in with the 'look' in my garden.

I like that I can change the colour if I want. But I like being in the garden amd painting.

When you've finished with it, it either breaks down naturally or can be recycled.

Wooden sheds are also eisuer to attach hooks, decorations etc to.

But I'm anti-plastic wherever I can be.

Metal, again, would be better than plastic.

YellowSkyBlue · 02/02/2019 17:54

I would not recommend plastic ones. The area which you put the lock through wore out on mine. So you cannot lock or repair it. This would not happen with a wooden one. The lock could be easily changed.

All the the plastic sheds were the first to be broken into down our allotment. One swift kick and they fall over, that's if very high winds haven't taken them before hand that is.

I want mine for a mobility scooter, so security and durability important.

I also have a Keter plastic one. Pretty basic model, no shelves. Had it nearly 11 years. Still ok but I suspect it won't survive a 2nd house move. Requires no maintenance.

I feel that decking and sheds etc should not be plastic if you can use wood.

I’d probably go metal. Not sure how treated wood with layers of paint on it will actually recycle or degrade properly.

AwdBovril · 02/02/2019 20:29

I would have preferred wood or metal over plastic, TBH, on environmental grounds. But, metal rusts, I bet it wouldn't have lasted 11 years including a house move & still be in reasonable condition. A wooden one almost certainly wouldn't, unless I'd regularly re-treated it. The plastic one has had absolutely zero maintenance. But, it will need to be taken to the rubbish dump eventually, & will not biodegrade well. And it doesn't accommodate any alterations, nor will it be possible to repair any damage.

Both houses I've lived in have had a relatively sheltered back yard. Low risk of wind damage.
