I just want to get a sense of what’s normal. ds is very picky and generally a poor eater and is one of the smallest in his class.

DD away to turn 8 in a month

B - eggs of some sort, every day!
S - a snack at school, something like oatcakes, rice cakes or chocolate bar
L - 2 course school meal
D - main course, portion really depends on what it is. She can eat 3 bowls of soup or pasta or very small portion of fish and veg!
S - bedtime snack, toast, oatcakes or a treat at the weekend

I read the book "my child won't eat" when she was a fussy toddler and it really changed my mindset on not worrying about how much she eats.

My DS is 8, totally average height and is slim. He eats:

Grapes and half an apple, couple of tablespoons of Greek yogurt with maple syrup for breakfast.

Tiny pot of strawberries for fruit break

Morning tea is a cheese stick, pot of grapes and small bag of pretzels

Lunch - cheese sandwich, biscuit, half a bag of popcorn, cucumber sticks.

After school - slice of bread and butter if he’s got an activity, otherwise I do dinner at 5 which is normally 3/4 adult size of whatever we have (normally meat, veg, potatoes, stir fry, steak, pasta, something simple like that)
Ice cream for pudding plus some fruit and maybe a bag of rice crackers.

He’s active - runs around at school and also swims twice a week, plays tennis for 3-4 hours per week, does two dance classes etc so is slim.

DS 8 had:
Breakfast: cornflakes and full fat milk. 1 slice toast with butter and lemon curd.
Snack: Banana.
Lunch: Ham and cucumber sandwich, yogurt, apple, homemade cake, water.
Snack: Apple.
Tea: two sausages, cheesy mash, Yorkshire pudding, carrots, green beans and broccoli. Small cake (cake twice in one day is NOT the norm!). Water
The three-year old is eating about the same amount at the moment!

Lunch: homemade walnut roll with cheese, carrot stick, celery and strawberry yoghurt.
Snack: banana
Dinner: daal, rice and half a pitta bread
Warm milk at bedtime.

Thursday

Lunch: wholemeal pitta bread and ham, carrot sticks and hummus, pear.
