Sudden onset of bedwetting

mayaknew · 01/02/2019 20:09

6yo ds has suddenly started wetting the bed.

He toilet trained at 2 and was dry overnight from the start. However over past few weeks he's been wet 2-3 nights per week.

Is this something to be concerned about ?

I only have a toddler so I don't know if this is normal to have a regression at this age but I guess I'd be thinking is there anything going on that might be making him worried / upset? I did this myself around the age of 9 having never before and it was due to an upset in my life.

Any other symptoms? Weight loss drinking lots will need urgent gp referral for diabetes

Could be something less sinister problems at school or home stress over tired of he is ok within himself may just be a phase

Threadworms? Check with a torch at night if you can.

My 4yr old wet the bed twice in one week and I knew something had to be wrong. Google suggested threadworms most likely, so checked with a torch when she was asleep one night and they were crawling all over her 🤮🤮🤮

UTI
Worms
Constipation/impaction
Stress
possible diabetes - if related to thirst and weight loss

Take a sample to your GP as a first step.
Find out if there is any stress or anxiety
Monitor his bowel function
Check for worms.

Hope you manage to get it sorted.

My 6yr old DS is the same has the odd 2 or 3 nights od accidents then goes a few weeks or a couple of months and the same again. I think he gets a bit overrtired school is getting harder and he doesnt drink enough in the day. Its a battle with him..The less they drink the bladder shrinks up and cant hold the amount it needs to in the night. Its a muscle if they drink loads and pee loads in the day its ready to hold a full amount at night. Limited drinks after 6pm though.

Oh threadworms may be a shout !

Haven't noticed any other symptoms other than maybe a bit of lethargy but he does that sometimes. He has had stomach/bowel problems for a good while which are now resolving so actually seeing less physical symptoms than usual in him.

I would take him to the GP and ask for type one diabetes to be ruled out, just to be on the safe side.

Has he recently had a cold? Because my 6yo does this occasionally and I'm sure it's to do with getting over a bug.
