Do I have a prolapse? Pregnant with 2nd and growing concerned!

My first born is now 3, delivery was fine and I had an apisiotomy to help his head out. They stitched me up however the stitches became infected and I’m concerned the cut has healed seperated now. I never paid it much thought as I thought nobody is the same after having a baby however when I go to the loo lately it feels like there’s a fleshy ball at my opening and I’m freaking out. I’m around 11 weeks pregnant and worrying now about 2nd labour and what I should do next 😩 any advice will be much appreciated!!

Hopefully you are still seeing and pooing ok?

The most likely problem would be a little prolapse or varicose veins (both worse in pregnancy). Maybe get the midwife or gp to check if you want? If episiotomy healed originally it won't open up now.

Should still expect normal delivery and both get better afterwards.

Even if you have neither, always good to do pelvic floor exercises, especially in pregnancy.

Good luck with your pregnancy

weeing not seeing, sorry

Yes still peeing and pooing fine, I just get really worried about the bulge! I don’t think it healed properly originally but I just ignored it and put it down to everything is different after having a baby. Horribly embarrassed but I guess I’ll have to get it looked at the put my mind at rest 😔 should I speak to midwife or GP?

I had the fleshy ball!

In fact I had many.... are they painful? Do you feel 'heavy' down there? It could be vulval varices - varicose veins, or a minor shift of some internal bits. Mine largely disappeared after the birth, but one fleshy lump, about the size of a fingertip remained. I was convinced it was a prolapse. Saw the Gynae who prescribed pelvic floor exercise and it's now all back to normal.

By all means get it checked but try not to panic. Pregnancy does all sorts of awful stuff, most of it temporary!

Thanks so much for your reply! Makes me feel so much better, I’ve been really freaking out. Any tips on the pelvic floors? I’ve been doing them but not as much as I probably should be, I’ll make more an effort if it means potentially fixing the fleshy ball 😂 x

There's an app called squeezy by the nhs which is great for pelvic floors.
