Is this chicken pox likely to scar?

DD's spots have all scabbed over but tonight she has knocked the scab off one and it just so happens to be smack bang in the middle of her forehead?

Is this likely to leave a scar? Would something like bio oil help? Thanks.

Final bump in the hope someone might reply 🤞🏼

Looks like a tiny little scab to me, very unlikely to scar. Both my DD’s had pox far worse than that and no scars.

That's tiny, I'd be amazed if it leaves a visible scar. The ones that left a visible dent on my DS were much much bigger and angrier. Although even those have faded and reduced to very unnoticeable after a couple of years.

My DD had one right in the middle of her forehead, the first and the last to go. It scared. My colleague at work sand and scared too. It looks smaller than my DD's though. Don't worry about it now though, just make sure they're comfortable

Scarred even, blooming autocorrect

Her torso is much worse than her face but luckily none of those scabs have come off (yet anyway). I hate the thought of her getting scars from it though. She had a bad fall when she was 2 and she already had a fairly big scar on her forehead from that which I feel awful about.

What is likely to happen to the scabs now? Will they just begin to fall off once the skin underneath heals? Does anyone know roughly how long that takes?

I think that one will be fine. With my kid it was the first 2 or 3 blisters to appear that were the biggest and worst and they were the ones that scarred. The rest were fine.

AssassinatedBeauty · 31/01/2019 20:36

Oh bless her. Chicken pox is not nice. They do take a few days to heal and smooth over, and then they're red for a fair while before starting to fade. 2 years later even the bigger ones on my sons are now faint white spots, not really noticeable at all.

PFB1 · 31/01/2019 20:46

I considered getting her vaccinated and I'm now really regretting the fact I didn't 😢

Once she is over this, get some vitamin E oil and rub it into her skin. It really helps stop any scarring?

I had chicken pox in my forties. It was awful, and I had this huge spot on my cheek. It was the size of a pea, and took a superhuman effort not to touch it, but it still left quite a big scar.

However, it was a much bigger spot, and your DD is much younger and will heal far better.

My DS was absolutely covered, they were everywhere and he hadn’t got a single scar. I covered him in virasoothe and (I think it’s called) poxclin and gave him oat baths twice a day when it was at its worst.

I asked my friend who is s nurse about the vaccine, her advice was not to bother because we don’t know how long it protects for and it’s an easier illness to deal with as a child than older, so don’t feel bad!

PFB1 · 02/02/2019 08:02

DD accidentally knocked a scab off her tummy which has left a spot with that pitted appearance.
I've bought vitamin e oil so just waiting for that to be delivered but I'm assuming that there's not much I can do to prevent that one scarring 😩 is there any chance of that skin levelling back out?

I had horrific chickenpox when I was 6. I'm left with only two very small faint scars - one on my hip and one on my nose. Nobody else has ever noticed them before I had pointed them out. I only ever think about them when the topic of chickenpox scars comes up! Your daughter is young and her skin will recover well.

As we go through life we collect scars, there's no way to protect ourselves 100% against that. I don't know anybody without a scar or a stretchmark or some other charming 'imperfection'.

AssassinatedBeauty · 02/02/2019 11:00

My ds had a pitted one on his nose, which as he's grown has flattened out to be just a small mark, hardly visible now.

MollyPea · 15/01/2022 18:45

Get a grip woman. Those are the mildest chickenpox marks on a face I’ve ever seen

Geom372 · 15/01/2022 18:47

DS had a few on his face that left scars but he's 13 now and they've really faded. I'm sure your DD's won't be noticeable.

You get a grip omg… ik this is a old post but jeez she a mother worrying about her child, stop being a dick.
