Minecraft on Amazon Fire tablet

My 8 year old DS is desperate to have Minecraft on his tablet. There are full parental controls on the tablet itself but as I seem to be a bit rubbish at technology these days, can anyone with experience please advise me of what i need to do to the game itself to keep him as safe as possible? Thanks.

As safe as possible from.what?

It's Minecraft... Not like candy man will appear behind him whilst playing.

As safe as possible because he is only 8 and I want to keep it as limited as possible for him, i.e. no interaction with other people. And because I’m not that knowledgable with these things I’ve asked for some advice thinking other people on here may share their knowledge.

I've played 1000ish hours and never seen another player.
You can only interact with other players by setting up a world and inviting them into it or by joining a public server.
Providing he stays away from public servers there'll be no strangers to chat too.

Thank you, that’s good to know. I assume he wouldn’t have a clue how to set up a world of his own. How do the public servers work though please, is this something that he could stumble onto?

Theres different settings to allow or not allow his world to be shared with others.
There's also settings to add servers his friends have made etc.

Getting onto public servers isnt the easiest thing in the world so he shouldn't be able to just stumbled into them.
He'd need the address of the server, the name, then add it to his list, the open it up and join it. Etc

If you go to youtube, there's tutorials on how tondonit, take a look.

Also, Minecraft is an amazing game, all ages can enjoy it. It's like a massive and infinite box of Lego to play with in your very own world..perfect for children.
