If it is based on how many hours you did this month, I make that around £193.

Horses4 · 31/01/2019 05:12

No, sorry, £258

changednamefort · 31/01/2019 05:13

The only way that would make any sense is if you are paid 12 months of the year even though it is termtime. Is this your only job and did you give them a p45 or complete a p46? If not you will also be being taxed 20% on it.

I would definitely ask HR/payroll how it was calculated.

To get £258, for info, I divided £4200 by 39 (term weeks), then by 12.5 to get hourly rate. Multiplied by the 12 days worked so for then by 2.5 for the hours worked each day.

Yes I would imagine they are paying you over 12 months, that’s how it’s done in schools, isn’t it?

Groovee · 31/01/2019 05:43

Speak to HR. My annual salary is cut down to my hourly rate then times by my hours, then by 39 and divided by 12.

PhilomenaButterfly · 31/01/2019 05:46

That's how teachers are paid, maybe midday supervisors are the same?

GertrudeWilloughby · 31/01/2019 08:42

What does the payslip say? Have you been emergency taxed? Ie does the tax code show BR?

AnotherRubberDuck · 31/01/2019 08:57

It'll all be on your payslip.
£138 could well be right.
If £4,200 is fulltime equivalent then one months pay is £350, but you ony worked half a month, so £175. Standard tax at 20% gives you £140, so I would assume the £2 difference is NI or pension or student loan deduction. =£138

If this is your only income then yes, contact HR to send in your documents to stop them taking tax off.
