My poor ears...

I bought dd1 a ukelele for her birthday & it arrived today. She's well chuffed with it (it sparkles, the description didn't say it was sparkly).

But...omg the noise! She's been learning chords at school apparently but it allll sounds the same & she hasn't worked out how to play quietly yet so dd2 is trying to get to sleep with strum strum strum going on in the room next door Grin (dd2 is probably sock on, I'm going to check in a mo so I can blow-dry my hair).

She's at it again tonight...it's properly tuned tonight though so not quite as bad as last night Grin

Sympathy!

My DD played the violin for 4 freakin' painful years.

Was soooo happy when she gave that up!

DS has played various instruments for years, though we've always had to nag for him to practice.
The past couple of months has seen an alarming change in his outlook and he now plays his guitar(s) all the fecking time.
He's doing a combination of Seven Nation Army and some sort of sea shanty at the moment Hmm

Sympathies OP! I always wish for my DS to take up a musical instrument but he shows no interest at all - but maybe I should be glad?!

Just thank your lucky stars yours don't play snare drum. It's enough to wake the dead, I swear.

lucysmam · 31/01/2019 21:29

PrivateParkin she's never been particularly interested in learning to play an instrument until a few weeks ago when I got a text after school asking if she could stay for ukelele club Confused!

RedHats I'm hoping she improves quickly Grin

We have a wonderful organisation that come into our school and teach an entire year group to play one different instrument per term. The first term always seems to be the ukelele.
It’s one of the most horrific, indescribable sounds you’ll ever 90 7 year olds massacring the instrument!!!
Although even one is painful, you have my sympathy Grin

Grin CakeNinja, y3 at my school are learning with their teacher (who looks like the most unlikely person ever to play the ukelele!). Thankfully I have been elsewhere in the school when they've been playing!

So maybe I have it still to look forward to?! Grin

Maybe you do!
