Please care about my birds!

I live in a noisy, built-up area where wildlife is nobodies concern. In the autumn I bought a few bird feeders and a little bath. Probably spent less than £20. Anyway I’ve been putting the food out and changing it regularly, keeping the bath clean and unfrozen but did not have a single birdy visitor until today! I’ve had a pair of great tits (yes I know), a robin and a fat woodpigeon stop off for lunch. I’m sadly thrilled about this! DH and DC aren’t interested so somebody please make a fuss!

I care, my dh and dcs are pretty indifferent too but I love watching the birds feed.
I did the bird count at the weekend and discovered I have 3 robins visiting, I was very excited.

cool hugs.
My poor sister (we’re sorting things at my mas house over next few weeks) is going to think I’ve flipped - just been looking at dyas bird seed will take several big bags down to her house rather than assorted nuts and cereals and crackers etc. We’rensupposed to be clearing formprobate etc not bringing stuff in!! Gonna give mums birds great winter send off for her before they get new house owners.

Fab! There’s a bird watch thing on the go just now with the RSPB I thinks. Get involved.

I care! Our garden is quite nature friendly, and we have loads of feeders out - we don't generally get anything very exotic (although we were visited by a flock of lesser redpolls last year for a week or two, that was lovely), but I just enjoy watching them.

Oooooh yes! It's lovely, isn't it? I get woodpeckers, jays, blue tits, coal tits, great tits, magpies, robins, and wood pigeons on my teeny tiny central as central can be London roof terrace. I even have a tame robin and wood pigeon who will eat from your hand and perch on you. The corvids hide buried treasure in the window boxes, usually peanuts, but I once found a foil wrapped chocolate football. When it snowed last year, I put out extra food on all the window sills in improvised feeders and a blue tit took up residence in plastic Muji desk tray thing filled with fat balls and seed, just eating and napping all day... I love my feathered friends!

Funnily enough, despite having a flock of noisy parakeets who fly past the window almost close enough to touch, they haven't discovered my bird feeders on the other side of the building.

runout I need to follow your lead as I am also as central as can be but noniutisde space only windowsills. Have hesitated as falcon used locally to relocate seagulls has taken a few pigeons and smaller birds locally. Don’t want it all to go ‘wrong’Confused

DH got me a bird feeder for the patio for my birthday last year, it's great - just a few feet from where I often sit in the kitchen. We had a rat problem so had stopped using the traditional wooden bird table, and the garden just seemed dead.

I use shelled sunflower seeds as they don't create much mess on the ground or germinate and they seem popular - had masses of goldfinches this summer and autumn. On the other hook we have a fat ball feeder, I had to get a 'caged' one to stop it being mobbed by starlings and jackdaws who'd gobble up the lot ... with the cage on it attracted lots of small birds, especially blue tits - I think a couple of young families at once sometimes. I have to put a bit of seed on the ground for the wood pigeons and pheasants, but only as much as they'll clear in the day. And recently started putting some mealworms on the mesh tray for robins.

We get quite a lot of other birds as there's a farm behind, it's a real joy. Pleased to see greenfinches again, we used to get a lot but then numbers plummeted due to a disease - hopefully there's a resistant strain making a comeback?

@HeronLanyon I'm not sure about falcons, I haven't had any issues with them, although a neighbouring building has "fake" falcons to deter seagulls so maybe that keeps the real ones away. The RSPB website might have advice? I have different types of feeders in different places based on advice I got from their website so the bigger birds don't monopolise the food or scare the smaller birds away.
