Would you go to the GP over period being 3 weeks late?

Well 19 days.

I've felt like it's about to start since the day I was due.

I keep getting all the symptoms and feeling like if I go to the toilet it will be there... But nothing.

Done 2 pound shop tests that were negative.

No I wouldn’t go to a gp for a late period

JollyGiraffe · 29/01/2019 18:46

No....

How old are you? Could you be peri menopausal?

If it’s at all possible you could be pregnant I’d do a clear blue or other digi test and if negative give it another week or so before seeing the doc of you are otherwise very regular.

I’ve had a couple of fluke 36-42 cycles over the years, mainly I could put them down to stress/illness but if no explanation like that I’d get it checked out.

I didn't think so.

I've been told by a few people to go. I thought it was overkill.

Very very unlikely pregnant. Partner has vascetomy

Early 30s. Very regular.

I did a few years ago. Dh thought it was an ectopic pregnancy and wanted to take me to a and e. It came eventually, 3 weeks late and with extra pain and flooding. Gp said it was probably stress.

SweetheartNeckline · 29/01/2019 19:00

No, it's more likely going to be an anovulatory cycle (where you don't ovulate for whatever reason, sometimes illness or stress) or late ovulation which would make your period late. Unless you're perimenopausal or get a positive pregnancy test in a few days' time (although at 19 days late the cheapest test, used properly, will almost certainly be accurate) then it's probably just one of those things.

BoeandBall · 29/01/2019 19:01

Mine was nearly 4 weeks late and i felt the same as you, like it was about to start. It eventually came but there was no obvious reason for it, i read that you can only miss a period from stress if the stress is very extreme. I would wait a bit longer before going to gp, sometimes it just happens

BlueJag · 29/01/2019 19:03

You can have an appointment with the nurse but maybe you should buy a good pregnancy kit just in case.

Celebelly · 29/01/2019 19:03

No, probably just an anovulatory cycle or delayed ovulation. It happens on the TTC forums all the time - someone is always really regular/never late until the time they're not!

Whatififall · 29/01/2019 19:07

I would wait until you’ve missed 2 periods (so 8 weeks late) before going to the Doctors. It’ll either arrive before then or it’ll be a significant change to your cycle then so they might investigate.

Before I had DD my cycle was very irregular, at the worst I went 10 months without any periods. I went to my GP at that point and she told me I should have come in after I missed 2 periods in a row.
