Bed postion.

Are there any health benefits to having a bed situated so you can get round 3 sides of it compared to it being up against the wall. My bedroom is large enough to allow both configurations but I can't decide which I prefer. When the bed is sticking out there seems to be less floor space but it is easier to tuck sheets in properly and I can reach the windows to open them because I do not have to lean over a chest of drawers. Very minor issue I know but wondered if anyone had a view?

That's my only option and while I didn't like it at first I like it now.

However in my case its about me having carers and its a hospital bed so single bed and accessable from both sides for safe moving and handling and height adjustable. So for me that's my health benefits as I'm bedbound about 10/14 days on average plus means can get out both sides of the bed for different things (in this case commode to on side / armchair to the other)

When I moved in to this house and saw how my friends had arranged my bedroom with bed tucked in the corner I cried.

A day later and bedroom got pulled apart and bed is in the centre of the room.

Try it both ways - a month each and then make your decision - check you have plug access easily and good luck

I thought this was going to be a feng shui type question! Grin
I guess it's easier on your back to have space all around. I've had both situations over the years and overall I prefer it away from the wall.

I think the bed airs better if it's not next to the wall. Personally I hate a double bed being in a corner.

I think if you've got plenty of space it's a bit peculiar to have a double bed pushed up against the wall. Single beds looks ok. Like you say OP, it's easier to move around when making it. Health wise, I suppose if it's an outside wall It could be colder up against the wall.

Here's some Feng Shui bedroom tips if anyone is interested:

Feng Shui Bedroom Tips
Keep the bedroom clean and fresh (open the windows if need be)
Avoid placing the bed to a corner. Always use a flat wall behind the headboard
Do not place your bed under an exposed beam if at all possible. You should have a comfortable sleeping position
Avoid having a mirror at the foot of the bed facing the bed

There is only one their consideration. I live in a small flat. There is stuff I have to store under bed ie 2 of those plastic boxes with lids and a tent (ex Guider :) ). Slightly unsightly when bed in middle of room but I do now have a bigger throw over the bed that hides this stuff. I'm definitely swaying towards away from the walls...….

Re the Feng Shui bedroom tips and not sleeping under a beam, I can understand that. I used to sleep under one of those overbed built in cupboards. It felt quite oppressive.

If I have the bed against the wall I can't avoid a mirror at the foot because the wardrobe door is one big mirror - think 1990's design.....I'm off to move the bed now. Won't take long.... It will warm me up. :)

Sorry to derail, but this is interesting. I changed rooms when my DS moved out and my former bedroom had beams going across the ceiling above the bed. The new room doesn't. I have slept so much better since moving and I never really liked the old room, hence me moving. Maybe there is something in it!
