So DS will be 14 soon, he's asked to go to London to see something which will be his main present. But I'd like to get him some bits to open...but am stumped so soon after Christmas!

Some ideas I have are gift vouchers, aftershave/smellie set, chocolate - very boring! Anyone got any other ideas please?

Depends so much on your child at that age.

My DS at 14 liked board games, a new phone, books of facts, (especially if related to football), some clothes, somethign nice for his room, his own mug or keyring with his sports team logo on.

My DD liked books, stationery, socks, make-up brushes, clothes, body butter, hair treatment oil, headphones, an extra phone battery, etc

Oh and if you are not from London a couple of London - themed things, (fridge magnet/ pen/keyring type thing).

Ah thank you for the ideas. He's quite a mature 14 year old - he got headphones, books, and games for Chrsitmas. He loved some colourful Ted Baker socks I got him at Christmas so will get some more and maybe some trunks.

I know it's boring but my favourite present at that age (and still is, now) was a book token. A book would have been welcome but having the "money" to choose whatever I wanted was bliss.

Is he a social creature? Would a gift card for a meal somewhere like pizza hut be appropriate, so he could go with and treat a couple of mates? I guess it depends on your budget, that might be too much.

He's having a few round for a sleep over and the London trip is planned for March so it's more gifts for him to open. He doesnt read books anymore sadly. I really am stuck!

Not sure if theres anywhere near you but i got my niece a Young Drivers voucher. It was huge success so much so her and her younger sister have been several times now

I second Young Drivers - it's great fun. My 15 yr old had some phone accessories, a gaming mouse for his PC, a Luckies travel map (where you can scratch off places you've visited and it's all brightly coloured underneath), a sweets hamper (choose their favourite- Amazon), and a couple of nice accessories from Nike.
