2018dramaqueen AH yes, we went through the dried/cured meats/jerky/salami phase! He won't touch them now. Maybe a good thing but Pepperamis were useful.
Clutterbugsmum Ha! Each child slightly different. He used to love oats. Porridge, cereal bars, flapjacks, it was great. Now he doesn't like them at all. I'm sure it's a phase.
Would he eat [http://allrecipes.co.uk/recipe/335/oat-biscuits.aspx Oat cookies] as healthier cookie. You could also add some dried fruit into them as well.
Thanks, mrsm43s My teens are the same, but this was a one-off to see what he enjoys. He has plenty of good stuff, too, and I tend not to put any ban on any foods - don't want to give them hang-ups later on. He most certainly didn't put in the healthy things to appease me as I don't care if he chooses them or not! He ate all the lettuce last night and says he has "plans for the broccoli" (think he means soup but doesn't know how to make it, yet). I think he may well heat up his own mushy peas, but I'm happy to do them for him, if it's what floats his boat
I think he had them at school and enjoyed them there.
His friends are varied. Some of the parents control and restrict, others do let them have a free reign. I know this because he regularly has Mountain Dew
at his pal's house. Equally, they often make themselves scrambled eggs, toast, beans, etc. as you mention, so I don't mind him having a bit of junky stuff every now and then. He's a growing boy and has plenty of healthy stuff in his meals.
MotherOfTheNoise I love the sound of peas and ham hock! He doesn't like ham but he LOVES soup. You've reminded me! I will defrost a few batches later and he can heat himself those in the microwave.
OutPinked I would have spent it all on Marathon bars
OMG I loved them and would spend all my lunch money on them. Tsk tsk tsk! Yes, I was pleased he put the healthy stuff in - it was genuine, too, he does like fruit & veg and will tuck in as well as having the crap stuff.
