.....you know, the ones you thought would happen on a regular basis pre-children and which you now find are instead as rare as hen's teeth!

Today DS2 (7yo) said, off-handedly, "Mummy, do you know Shakespeare?" I said "Why yes darling. of course!" in delight (I am a massive English literature geek). Unbelievably, the conversation ended up with us sitting on the sofa watching the Cbeebies re-enactment of The Tempest (watch it on iPlayer, it's good!) with my copy of Shakespeare's complete works in front of us, quoting lines as we came across them. It was utterly wonderful. I am absolutely certain that nothing like it will ever happen again and that's my lot, parenting joy-wise Grin

Please tell me your best moments :)

with my little daughter we enjoy fairy tales

Bumbalaya · 29/01/2019 17:43

My two year old has just recently started to sing songs all the way through and on the way back from a neighbour's house on Christmas Eve, she was all wrapped up in the sling against my chest and the sky was all crips and inky, she sang Twinkle Twinkle all the way home while looking up at the stars. I don't think I'll ever forget it- so very sweet.

DD1(23) was home for the weekend and the two of us snuggled up on the sofa and watched Merlin on Netflix and reminisced about how, when she was younger, the whole family used to gather round for Merlin and pizza on a Saturday night. Happy days.

So we opened some prosecco and bonded over some blatant objectifying of the knights of the round table, (she went for Gawain, I prefer Lancelot). The lovely moments don't stop when they grow up.

On Saturday me and DS2 (4yo) went to the park and then to costa for coffee and smoothies. No rushing needed, just hanging out - was lovely.

I drove DS (2yo) to a birthday party yesterday (I don’t usually drive, and this was 40mins each way).

On the way back he started practising his squealing (basically seeing how loudly he can squeal). He’s pretty loud and normally does this on public transport, so I usually shush him. But we were on our own in the car so I joined in, seeing who could shriek loudest. I won by a pretty far margin, which he found hilarious. Then I sang him a song I used to sing when he was a baby, and he made me sing it over and over all the way home.

Your post made me cry. Your daughter sounds very special and you must be very special to her. How gorgeous.
I really hope your health improves fast, and that things resolve as speedily and as favourably as possible with your ex

@Nonomore3 thank you! I have my 6 month check up tomorrow ... hoping everything is fine as it's the first big milestone Smile

My moody, hormonal 17 year old DS offered to run me a bath and added my badedas bubbles as he knows I usually save it for ‘best’ Grin.

I'm lucky enough to have many such memories, but the most recent one was at Christmas last year.

I have 2 dc- ds1 (22) and ds2 (11). Single mum (again!). Ds1 is quite reserved, likes to dress smartly etc. But last year he needed a Christmas jumper for a work thing, and ds2 needed one for school. So we went out and bought them and they got matching ones. On impulse I said I was going to get one too, and that I wanted one of those cheesy Christmas photographs with us all wearing them. (I usually hate having my photo taken so it came as a surprise to them both Grin).

Anyway. We wore the jumpers to a family Christmas day and duly had the photo taken, lights flashing on the jumpers, smirky grins and everything.

I loved it Grin and best of all I have the photo as a lasting reminder.

Am 38 weeks pregnant with my second DC. The other night as I was getting DS (nearly 4) ready for bed he gave the bump a huge cuddle and said "mummy when they baby is born is is going to be so beautiful just like you are" Cue hormonal welling up from me! Hope he's as pleased with DC2 when it finally arrives!

crazytired3 · 02/02/2019 20:06

I was sat getting ready doing my make up dd6 came to watch and chat. She said ‘mummy why do you wear all that make up, you don’t need it, you are beautiful.’ Also told me how to have my hair cos it made me look even more beautiful.
Had the biggest smile all day from that

Dd4 squeezing me as hard as she can and telling me she loves me every single night before bed.

Ds7 runs out of class to me every day as fast as he can it’s a running jump and I have it catch him and lift him up. Not sure how much longer he will do it, or how long I’ll be able to pick him up. 😂

When the dc and I have sing-offs, usually when George Ezra comes on the radio.

littleoralot · 04/02/2019 23:25

What a beautiful thread.

Mine has to be every time my 1yo dd is going to sleep/ nap she snuggles on my lap with a bottle of milk and plays with my hair until she's finished. Then has a dummy and I stroke her belly till she goes to sleep. Best feeling ever

Toddlerandteenagermum · 04/02/2019 23:35

This is the best post! My 5 year old climbed into my bed, grabbed my face, said “I love you mummy” and then fell asleep. My heart literally melted.

SquigglySquaw · 04/02/2019 23:46

Best thread ever❤️
When my 4mo DS wakes up in the morning and catches my eye... Oh that big smile breaks me every time. I look forward to it every night.
