Talk to me about your children's box room

We are decorating our three year old's bedroom and it comes in a 6.5ft x 13.5, very long but very narrow.

Due to the window we don't want to put a mid sleeper as it would make the bedroom very dark so we can just fit a single bed width ways underneath.

What storage/furniture does your child keep in their room, we want to start decanting more of his toys up there now he's getting older and I'm looking for some inspiration on good storage without it being to cluttered.

IKEA is your friend, they have so many storage options. I always get a little carried away though 🙈

You might like the Hennes Day bed. Excellent storage underneath, ability to pull out and have a second bed in the room for sleepovers etc.

IKEA is a firm feature in our home!
We've decided on the Nordli bed that comes with a headboard that can attach to the wall.

Ideally the Hemnes daybed was what I wanted but it's a couple of inches too long so we couldn't fit it in.

IKEA is a firm friend (in every room of the house!)

We've gone with the Nordli bed because the headboard can attach to the wall to save a few inches and it comes with storage underneath.

The Hemnes daybed was at the top of our list and we nearly bought one second hand but it's three inches too long, a bugger because I've got a couple of friends who swear by it!

I thought I lost the first message but apparently not!

We have a slightly smaller room for our youngest 6.5 x 8ish. She has a higher bed with removable but twist knob screwed on side rails and steps up to it made bespoke to fit Ikea drona (cheap square fabric) boxes. She has a table with little benches either side under her bed. It's caravan table style and the table top drops down between the benches to form a second bed (she used this when she wasn't ready for the higher bed.

On one wall we have a selection of three kallax predecessors the expedit. A tall 5 slot, a lower 2 rows of 2, then another tall 5 x 1. With a hanging rail between the two tall units over the 2x2 unit. We had a piece of white board trimmed to size at b and q to create a shelf over the top. The bottom two sets of slots have soft drona boxes in the we have two rows of cupboard inserts as I worried that young DD would pull boxes on herself. It's just 39cm deep and masses of storage. Much shallower than a wardrobe. Ideal in a small room and ofers long term flexibility.

DD is 8 now. We moved in when she was 2.5 and the storage and flexibility has worked really well. She uses the bottom row of boxes for toys and its so easy to throw the toys back in and shove them away tidy. The next row is clothes and we've changed some boxes for the soft drawers so she has undies, socks, t shirts , long sleeved tops, leggings, trousers, school uniform, pj's.

We just bought an ottoman bed from dreams, the whole bed pops up for storage!

We also have a tv/dvd combo (only 19" cause I didn't want to swamp it), which we've mounted so it's not taking up surface space
