First world problems - tumble dryer has broken 😭

Thursday. I have to wait til Thursday to get it fixed. Meanwhile my washing is on airers and radiators around the house and outside trying to make the most of the morning sun. The line hasn't been in use since October and is a bit stiff (retractable one) so I am surrounded by it. I had to iron ds1's school trousers to finish the last drying this morning before school. Someone please tell be to suck it up and get on with it please before I drown in laundry piles Sad Bear.

Is there a laundry mat or self service laundry service nearby? You can get large loads dry really quickly. It might save you from death by laundry. Smile

This was me a few weeks ago - I did a load a day and made sure the airer was in front of the radiator. It was fine.

Still very grateful my tumble dryer is fixed though Grin

I would be buried Shock. The belt snapped on Friday so I already have last week's stuff around the house, sports kit and weekend clothes are on the go. I can't leave it. It'll stink.

No laundromat near (rural). Might have to throw myself on mum's mercy tomorrow though, she has a dryer.

I'm sure it wasn't this hard without a dryer pre-kids. 4-5 load a week tops. Now it's a load a day minimum or it grows unmanageable.

You have my sympathies, my washing machine packed up between Christmas and New Year, so by the time they came out, ordered the part and came out again to fit it, I was without the machine for over 2 weeks 😭 and we are a family of 6 (inc 4 teenage DSs). I was on my knees at the end and down to beach towels. In the final few days I gave up washing completely (my DM had done about 8 loads for me and I had a trusty spindryer which came into its own). I take my hat off to women in the past including DM who had 4DCs and terry nappies and no washing machine.

On balance, no tumble dryer is better than no washing machine but neither is great in bad weather and numerous children.......

Hang the clothes straight onto clothes hangers & hang on the door frames of bedrooms, use the bannister for towels & bedding & the rack for underwear & other bits that won't go on a hanger. I've not used my tumble dryer since April Smile

Mine died a couple of years ago after sending shards of hot metal all over a load. I said I would replace it in the autumn but after seeing the drop in my electricity bills I decided to go without! I am lucky in that we have a large expanse of banister rails upstairs which are great for drying clothes when I can't use the line.

No usable bannister unfortunately. Doorframes are an idea. It's sunny outside right now so I'm spreading the out outside for a bit.

Got hangers in full use.

I had a washer dryer and when it died in September Hubby replaced it with just a washer....I was admit it would be a pain, but we have managed since without a dryer and our electricity bill has come down as well.....Hubby being very smug that he was right!
