Can I prevent the vomiting bug- have a newborn

I have a 4 week old and a 3 year old. My in laws are staying with us this month to help out with DC. My MIL has caught a D&V bug since yesterday, this morning I saw her cuddling the baby and the toddler when I came down from a lie in after staying up the night breastfeeding. I had a strong word with my DH to make sure she doesn’t hold the DCs until she’s better. I’ve been disinfecting like crazy since morning and paranoid they might catch it. Am I overreacting here? Is there anything I could possibly do to make sure no one else catches it?

When people say about breastfeeding immunity and antibodies, it means that it will protect against gut infections as other antibodies can't pass through the gut wall. By breastfeeding you are doing the best to protect against D&V bugs.

I don't think you're overreacting, those bugs affect tiny babies and elderly people the most, your mil is old enough to know better. Personally I and DH would boot them into a hotel for 48 hours until bug has gone but I'm sure people will say we are ridiculous.

Thanks Gummy. Moving them out isn’t an option really. I’ve handled the toddler’s vomiting bugs in the past but just more anxious to manage things with the Bantu.

Don't suppose she'll confine herself to her room until she's in the clear?
