Shite, the toddler is coughing

And when he has a cough it is almost always RSV and it usually turns into bronchiolitis. I'm fucking exhausted, DD has just had a vomiting bug, the same DS who is coughing smashed his head off the toilet last week and had to be put under General anaesthetic to stitch it, I had a mega domestic with DH last week, I've had painful infections in my fingers and the antibiotics make me feel sick, and I could really do with a good sleep. Which I am not going to get. I can hear the poor sod spluttering in his sleep already.

Anyone likely to be around to chat later tonight? :(

Do you have any Tixylix & plenty of pillows, so hes sat upsleeping almost? Can he have a lidded cup of water, so he doesnt wake you up for a drink?

Im trying to cover all scenarios here for you Flowers

I hope you all get some sleep Sad

Well he basically woke himself coughing at 3am, then DD threw up everywhere, so all the lights went on and he was properly disturbed. He almost went back to sleep around 5.30 but woke himself coughing at 6am. Luckily for him, he had a good nap. Unluckily for me, I did not.

He is propped up, inhalered, calpol'd and vapo rubbed up to the hilt but he is already coughing and spluttering again 😭

Aww op. You are having a rough one. I will be around to chat later definitely. DD and D's both have this cough as are unable to sleep with it. Am so so tired. Will find the strength from somewhere you are doing awesome op. Awesome job 💐

My DD has a similar cough, the kind of cough that requires her to be awake half the night coughing and moaning about it. She slept for a bit last night as long as I lay next to her scrunched up against the wall in her bed so she could cough right in my face from 2cm away. Am off work tomorrow as it is DH's birthday, good thing we hadn't made any plans because she clearly isn't going to be going to nursery.

My dd was like this. Usually ended up on antibiotics and inhaler when I eventually relented after 2 or so weeks of hell. She would cough for hours and hours in the most horrible way. She is much better now aged 5. Usually shakes off a cough like normal. It still sends stress right through me when I hear it starting. When I was pregnant with dd2 I was tempted to move to a hotel and let dh deal with it so 8 could get some sleep.

CottonSock at 4am I was checking out the price of our local Travelodge (£41. I am considering it, for when the DC are both better).

Can you put vicks on his feet and socks over them.

OMGithurts · 27/01/2019 21:12

Done that. Don't know if it has helped but it hasn't hurt.

I will also be up as youngest DS was up all last night coughing and has already started again. He has always been rubbish with a cough and still seems to get really affected at 4. Am hoping next winter he may be a bit better with the coughs! His older brother was never this bad.

I’m so tired - single parent so no one to tag team with

Burpsandfustles · 27/01/2019 22:19

happy that made me laugh so much.

The sheer torture parents go through! Lack of sleep, sick with worry, the bloody 111 to navigate... It's a nightmare.
Then people are so horrid about their mums! Saying they won't share a bed with then on hols or something!

Op hang in there... Premier Inn much nicer than travel lodge though.

Hope you get some sleep tonight. One of my dc has similar and I'm on alert as soon as dreaded cough starts.
