Selling breastmilk

I can find American sites for selling breastmilk but not ones in the uk. I'm specifically talking about selling to body builders and the like.

I've tried donating it and I'm on a few donation facebook pages but no one is in my area and it's coming to the chuck it time.

I've already donated lots to my local milk bank.

To those asking, BM is only usable for drinking for six months of frozen.

OP I'd keep it as past the six month mark it's still usable for breast milk baths - handy if DC ever have dry skin/ a rash.

Drink it yourself or use it in your cooking - the French consider it an anti-cellulite treatment.

Use it as a facewash - it's very good for your skin.

Yeah but she had a baby last week according to her previous posts.

So either she's somehow managing to pump and store loads of milk from this pregnancy already, or the milk is from previous lactation and if it's in date for the milk bank it'll be in date to feed to her newborn.

GalacticChickenShit I have an 8 day old and a 3yo. I breastfed the 3yo till 2.5. the milk is from then so is now at the end of the 6month frozen period.

The milk bank only takes milk from mother's whose babies are under 9months. I suspect that's the issue with peer to peer donation too.

But you said you've given lots of it to the milk bank already?

Why not feed it to your own baby?

GalacticChickenShit I donated 10litres of breast milk to the milk bank when DS was 3-9 months old. Then the milk bank stopped wanting it as the nutritional make up changes. I then donated some to other babies of a similar age but no one wants it now in my area and no one is willing to travel or pay shipping costs. I'm still happy to give it away if anyone would take it!

And yes, I fed DS but he preferred it from source so what I pumped was mainly wasted unless we put it in the bath.

I can't feed it to DD as she's a new born so needs different nutrition. It won't keep another 6 months.

I cannot stand the smell of breastmilk so can't imagine I'd like the taste!

Had a quick check with my partner and she is not happy with the idea of me running a business to sell breast milk to possible perverts.

Turns out once again I misjudged the market

MulderitsmeX · 26/01/2019 21:31

I went down a google rabbit hole about this and it only retails for about 2usd per ounce (so 12 dollars a freezer bag) so not really worth it. I wasn't going to sell i just had a need to find out haha.

Didnt realise the nutitional makeup changes, surely milk banks dont get much milk so any donated would be useful??
Im going to try putting some on my eczema tonight...

Endofrelationship · 26/01/2019 22:02

MulderitsmeX yeah the nutritional make up changes quite significantly at some point between 9 and 12 months- once baby starts taking on more solids. They can't risk the newborns not getting sufficient fat.

I'll be donating again this time. I'm practically half cow with how much milk I produce!
