Vesuvius Spot On Face

Smokeahontas · 26/01/2019 18:52

Posting here for traffic! A spot the size of a small African state has appeared on my face, and of course I have a talk to give on Monday.

Please give me your best spot zapping tips! I’ve tried Germoline & a charcoal face mask so far to no avail.

Not a facemask! That'll bring more out. You need to draw it out- hot as you can stand flannel on it for 20 minutes (keep putting it in hot water to keep the temp up) then squeeze- use a sterile needle (boil for 10 minutes) to pop it if needs be.

Otherwise, use mag sulphate to draw it out.

Only once the infection is out then use germaline to help it heal.

Tea tree oil!! Or lavender oil

A blob of toothpaste on it overnight dries it up.

This tip bought to you by Just 17 circa 1992...

Am I the only one hoping there’d be a photo of said spot? You are not alone!

LittleSpace · 26/01/2019 20:05

Hydrocolloid plaster - put on spot overnight and it draws out the spot.

You can buy something called Acnecide over the counter, which dries up the infection. A couple of applications (careful of pillows etc; it bleached fabric!) - it will clear right up without leaving a scab or too much redness.

ashtrayheart · 26/01/2019 20:08

A small amount of hydrocortisone cream, just don’t use it for too many days as if can thin the skin, but works for emergencies!

ScottishDiblet · 26/01/2019 20:10

Sudacreme. Works wonders. Good luck!!

Chickenvindasaag · 26/01/2019 20:14

WHERE ARE THE PICS
THIS IS VERY UNFAIR
ahem. Tradition dictates that there are pictures along with a KLAXON.
Get thee to a chemist for some mag sulph to draw out out. Then post pics. A video of squeezing would be good too Grin

strangerthongs · 26/01/2019 20:20

sudocrem tonight if you have any

Tomorrow, if you can, get some origins spot lotion

DustyMcDustbuster · 26/01/2019 20:25

Magnesium sulphate & plaster on top. Take it off tomorrow & it’ll have drawn out the pus.

I also would like pics.

Smokeahontas · 26/01/2019 20:31

I feel like I’ve posted on some kind of swingers pornography website with folk demanding pics and videos Grin

I’ve put a hydrocolloid plaster on - if the squeeze is good in the morning I promise I’ll record it. It’s just a massive red, angry lump at the min.

By the way it does depend what stage the spot is at....

How do hydrocolloid pimple patches work?
Use a hydrocolloid bandage if your pimple is raised or has visible pus, so it can suck out the fluid and flatten out the pimple. ... If your pimple doesn't actually have any fluid in it, a hydrocolloid patch won't do much. Use an acne treatment patch if your pimple is inflamed but doesn't contain much fluid

DustyMcDustbuster · 26/01/2019 21:03

@welshsoph

Oooooooh now you’re talking. You ever watch Dr Pimple Popper on YouTube? I could watch for hours & my fingers twitch!!!

@welshsoph GrinGrinGrin that’s brilliant! I might have a coffee & watch some now. Tv’s boring.

retainertrainer · 26/01/2019 21:14

I think if it’s a red lump with no head then I’d leave it alone, you’ll only anger it more! Get yourself a heavy duty concealer.

FloofyDoof · 26/01/2019 21:26

I'd agree with the hot cloth to bring it to a head and then cover with a hydrocolloid dressing/plaster to suck all the gunk out. Can use a cotton sock filled with uncooked rice and heated in the microwave, instead of hot cloth.

Once it's all drained take ibuprofen to help quickly reduce inflammation, and use a cold (chilled in fridge) wet camomile tea bag as a compress. Should be almost gone by Monday this way.

I had cystic acne for a long time, and these things were all helpful with the biggest sorest ones.

DustyMcDustbuster · 26/01/2019 21:28

@welshsoph this has to be one of the best

Yes! Dusty I think that's the best I've seen.

DustyMcDustbuster · 26/01/2019 22:49

@welshsoph haha. I’ll never forget that one. Yes, sorry OP, you’ve tapped into our weird fascination with zits!

@End I love it! It seems like it will never end. How did their ear not swell outwards like a melon?
