What age should kids start getting involved with present buying?

Just that really, at what age(s) do you think children/teenagers should be starting to get involved and think for themselves about what presents and cards they want to give to parents/relatives?

(I don't mean buying them with their own money or anything but just like 'I've seen X and thought dad might like for his birthday' or 'I want to get X for sisters Christmas present' type thing)

I’ve involved DD since she could talk. For my dads birthday gone she got him a punnet of grapes, a macaroon bar, a pope Francis flag all presented in a gay pride bag!! 🏳️‍🌈 He loved it!

I also remember going to sale of works at school at 5 and 6 and buying half bottles of 50p perfume for my Mam and being delighted with myself!

Mine are 3 and 7 and choose presents for their dad themselves (we are not together anymore) although I do try and steer them sometimes. They also choose their friends birthday presents and cards.

They also choose each others presents at Christmas/birthday.
