My rummage though Tesco discovered that Tampax are from Hungary, Lillets from Taiwan, and Tesco own from Germany.

Come a no deal brexit are we supposed to go all retro and use a bit of old pillowcase and a safety pin?

A list of (all) products made in the U.K. using U.K. materials would be helpful. Especially life’s essentials, gin and biscuits.

I have been thinking now might be the perfect time to buy a mooncup OP

MrsJayy · 25/01/2019 19:31

WrongKindOfFace · 25/01/2019 19:34

where are mooncups made

WrongKindOfFace · 25/01/2019 19:47

Yes, they do. Because they have deals with them.

Looking at the supermarkets it’s just occurred to me that baby milk isn’t produced in the U.K. either. Only Kendamil is made in the U.K., and I don’t recalll ever seeing it for sale?

Mooncups are made in the U.K. Don’t know where they source their materials.

Mooncups are made in the UK and if you get one now it should hopefully last for years

JiltedJohnsJulie · 25/01/2019 19:59

Ive sorted out the tampon/towel drawer earlier. It seems I keep buying them, shoving them in the drawer and forgetting. Now I'm peri-menopausal and hardly have periods. I think I might have to start sharing them around if there is a shortage Smile

KatyMac · 25/01/2019 20:01

How about reframing it as "I'd like to buy a product with reduced product miles, ideally from the UK"

if nothing else the 'potential' trade issues may re-invigourate the "Buy British" slogan of my childhood!

AwdBovril · 25/01/2019 20:11

I have been trying to buy British for years. Decades, even. It's surprisingly difficult. I try to buy local, and from small businesses if possible, for a lot of reasons.

I've switched to a menstrual cup, & cloth pads over the last few years. Much more comfortable. Better for the environment. No ongoing costs. No more monthly bouts of yeast infection/ itchiness. No chance I'll run out.

AnotherPidgey · 25/01/2019 20:41

Mooncups, cloth sanitiary pads. Buy now and you'll be Brexit proof in that department for at least a decade Grin

anniehm · 25/01/2019 21:12

Perhaps another thing to get a few packets in just in case - with 3 of us we get through a fair few, mooncup leaky terribly for me and the DD's wouldn't be comfortable yet.

Tika77 · 25/01/2019 21:22

Washables from etsy for example.

WrongKindOfFace · 25/01/2019 22:02

I have had a Mooncup in the past, but didn’t get on with it at all. Shame as it’s a great idea.

Bloom-n-nora reuseables are made in Glasgow.
Same company as Totsbots nappies.
Can't say I've used the pads but the nappies are well made.

mumsastudent · 26/01/2019 22:15

(starts hunting through attic - maybe sell on ebay? :) )

WrongKindOfFace · 27/01/2019 09:35

Do we grow bamboo in the U.K.?

OP posts:
EdtheBear · 28/01/2019 20:50

No but I can't imagine that it grows anywhere in Europe either.

Regardless still has to be better for environment than the disposable type of pads.

There's a balance between what's best for the Economy, what reduces the carbon footprint of products and reducing what's goes to land fill.
