Tomorrow's pay not showing in pending transactions..

Hi

My wages for tomorrow are not showing in Pending Transactions in my account.. I always check the day before to make sure it's going in. Never had a problem before.

I spoke to payroll and they didn't have a clue what I meant by pending transactions - they told me I'd be paid tomorrow but they've issued payments in a "slightly different way" this month. Are they fobbing me off? Even if they've issued my pay by faster payments it would still show in pending wouldn't it?

Could anyone advise? what should I do if I don't get paid tomorrow? I know other staff have had issues with them before and they had to wait for any remaining pay the following month - I definitely can't afford to to that. Would I be within my rights to ask for the payment tomorrow if it doesn't come in by say 9 am?

Thanks..

Not all transactions show up in pending payments, I work for a large-ish business and check their next-day bank transactions every day, both in and out. If your employer has issued payments differently, then that will be it, and nothing to worry about.

As I understand it, a faster payment won’t show as pending because it hasn’t been sent yet. They might have timed them all to send tomorrow I.e. at midnight. BACS payments show as pending because they have a three day lead time, so not the same as faster payments.

Pending transactions is something your bank does by the way, and nothing to do with the payroll dept. Not all banks do pending transactions, my main bank doesn’t.

If the payroll say something has changed, but that you are getting paid, just wait until tomorrow and see what happens.

My employer will correct underpayments immediately and pay the difference same day by faster payment if we are underpaid, but yours might differ. Once they underpaid me by about half and I had the difference in my account within three hours.

If you are underpaid massively or not paid at all, I’d ask them to correct it immediately and kick up an enormous fuss if they refuse.

My wages never ever show in pending. Mine are sent by BACS do it will have gone today to arrive on Monday.

Faster payments definitely never show as pending and it sounds like they’ve taken this option instead of BACS by suggesting they’re doing it differently this month.

As other posters have said, some pending transactions never show and it depends on your bank rather than your employer’s. Just because it isn’t on the pending list doesn’t mean it won’t arrive.

I wouldn’t worry unless your pay doesn’t come in tomorrow.

FYI I work for a major high street bank.

Mine never show in pending transactions.

Are you with HSBC? They’re the only ones I know who would show this

I imagine they’ve sent a faster payment dated tomorrow rather than a BACS payment. I’ve had to do similar with a previous employer, they were changing banks (and having financial difficulties) and their existing bank stopped them doing BACS payments whilst the changeover was going through to ensure they didn’t go overlimit.

If it’s that, it’ll show by roughly 10am tomorrow.

Thanks all.. yes I'm with HSBC - thought all banks were the same re pending transactions, Im going to assume it's a faster payment and check tomorrow morning....
