Help I've just eaten raw chicken

I'm away from home, work commitment tomorrow.

Just eaten dinner at the hotel - chicken skewers. Ate the first one a bit mindlessly, and thought it had a soft texture. Cut into the second one and it's raw inside. Too late for the first which I've already eaten.

Oh god, am I going to spend tomorrow hugging a toilet bowl and miss all the work stuff which is the whole reason I'm here and not eating hygienic food in my own house?

Just Seen you feel fine 😊

Jens303 · 24/01/2019 17:15

hopefully you'll remain fine as I believe it can 24 hours

todayiwin · 24/01/2019 17:29

Jesus!! Are you ok and have you reported it

MongerTruffle · 24/01/2019 17:33

Not all raw chicken contains salmonella
That's not the big issue. Two thirds of chicken is contaminated with campylobacter, which is often much worse than salmonella poisoning (I speak from experience).

You can report this here ^^

Hiphopopotamus · 24/01/2019 17:36

It does make you wonder why we eat chicken at all if it’s so risky!

HollyBollyBooBoo · 24/01/2019 17:49

My god that is shocking! It doesn't even look like it saw a grill or oven!

thatmustbenigelwiththebrie · 24/01/2019 17:52

This is why I never order chicken from a menu. I don't trust people to cook it properly.

FrenchyQ · 24/01/2019 21:03

Hiphopopotamus to be fair we wouldnt eat alot of food if we thought about the risks

Patroclus · 24/01/2019 21:14

Food poisoning can appear days or weeks later supposedly. Drink plenty of water.

Doggydoggydoggy · 24/01/2019 21:22

Most, if not all chickens are vaccinated about salmonella.

Unfortunately most chickens are infected with campylobacter which is just as bad.

100% contact environmental health, food poisoning can take a while to show, think it can be up to 10 days so any sickness go straight to GP and explain would be my suggestion

SneakyGremlins · 24/01/2019 21:23

OP please say you're alive!

I didn't know there was a raw chicken troll!

It's about 38 hours since I ate the chicken and I feel absolutely fine. I have just googled the incubation period for campylobacter though and now feel worried again - my son had it years ago and I know how nasty it is.

I reported the issue to the management at the hotel and they could not have been better in their response.

Sorry op. I thought you were a pbp. I hope you didn't feel ill from your meal.

There was a raw chicken troll a few nights ago and a few weeks before that. It was a pbp. Thread saying her au pair had fed their toddler very undercooked pink chicken. In another thread the op had a Doctor Husband and another mother had fed her child undercooked pink chicken. All very gross and quickly dealt with by MNHQ.

SneakyGremlins · 26/01/2019 01:32

The doctor husband wasn't a troll, I've known that poster for two years.
