Has anyone done an OU course?

I’m thinking of doing an MBA but I work full time and part time courses are still incredibly expensive.

I have been looking into the OU and it seems to be a pretty well regarded course and much cheaper.

Does anyone have any experience? Is OU worth it?

Have done a few short courses, very interesting and well worth it for what they were. Teaching help via email was very good.

Good luck with your studies.

Thank you! I’ll investigate further I think.

I did a degree with ou. Took about 5 years as l was working full time so ended up deferring a few modules. I would recommend them. There was always support if you needed it. I like to work alone but we set up Facebook support groups. Still keep in contact with some of people on my modules despite never meeting in real life.

The OU are expensive now aren't they? I was thinking of completing my degree by transferring credits from my university. Not sure it's worth it though.

Yes I have done an Msc with them but I was working part time. They advertise the average no of hours per week it takes and I found that to be true. It was 100% worth it for me. Got a job on the strength of it on my cv. But don't commit unless you have the hours available. It is hard work.

I did my degree with the OU and also got a job because of it. Definitely worth it if you don't mind putting the work in - you need a lot of self motivation to get on with the work and meet deadlines.

Took me 6 years - I worked part time and had 2 DC in that time Smile

Thanks all. I will do some serious cost analysis!

I'm 2 years in to a 5 year degree, best choice I ever made. The course is beautifully simple to follow, the text books and activities relevant and well explained, and with weekly broke down tasks I don't find it overwhelming at all (what I feared) its all very "do able" The tutors I've had contact with are down to earth and approachable - and knowledgable and helpful. Multiple online tutorial opportunities plus some are recorded and put online to access afterwards.

I've continued working through mine since being pregnant. In fact I submitted my 2nd assignment this year and I'm due tomorrow! Grin

For me, uni wasn't an option, but I'm SO excited at the prospect of studying in my own time, and graduating in a couple years knowing I still worked full time, grew and raised and baby and paid the mortgage/bills whilst doing so. Plus hopefully once it's done it'll open doors for me into the type of job I want.
