Has anyone got any tried and tested tips to calm nerves? I have my driving test in the morning and I already feel sick with nerves. Alcohol obviously out 😅

Imagine yourself after the test having passed! Be confident, a positive mental attitude as my mother always says. And deep breathing helps, good look! 👍🏻

Download the Calm app and listen to the rain

Download headspace app and do a meditation - they have very specific ones to calm anxiety

Slow breaths with a long exhale

My instructor told me to take some Calms the day before and day of the test. Also remembering that in the grand scheme of things it is not the end of the world if you fail - you can just try again.

Before the test do some deep breathing. Listen carefully and ask the examiner to repeat anything you don't hear/understand. Take your time. If you get so anxious that your legs shake, pull over and explain what you are doing. I was told an examiner would rather see you exercising self-awareness and being mindful of safety, than battering on regardless when you are too anxious to drive effectively.

Good luck!! You'll be grand.

Breathe in for three seconds
Hold for 4 seconds
Breathe out for 5 seconds

And repeat, repeat, repeat, repeat -----------------------------------------------------> GOOD LUCK!!!

Drink really sweet team- it will help to offset the adrenaline.

I find go over what is needed. Practice in my head. Having someone ask me questions.

When I was training to be a teacher I heard the expression "failure to prepare is preparation for failure". So if I have nerves about getting something wrong or failing I find that making sure I am as prepared as I can be calms me or I get bored of it, which also reduces the anxiety.

Deep breathing doesn't help me if the real reason I am panicking is because I subconsciously know I am not prepared enough.

I passed! Kept my cool and reassured myself that i knew what i was doing. Thanks for the advice!

The calm app is £35 a year! Is it worth it? Bit steep.
