Vegas is a good shout and doesn’t have to revolve around gambling, some great restaurants & bars.

I was underwhelmed by NY although it was a more than a decade ago when I visited, I think London is much better but I am a Londoner so perhaps biased.

Some great ideas New York seems to be front runner! I've been before and loved it but dh never has and is desperate to go. We did Vegas quite recently.
Neither of us have been to Iceland but thought a week there would be too long/too expensive?
We were also looking at cruises there is one in the Norwegian fjords at around that time but neither of us have done a cruise and are a bit worried in case we hate it and are trapped for a week!

You could do Boston and New York in a week with a nice drive in between stopping at cape cod or Newport Rhode Island. Fly into Boston and home from New York or vice versa!

Definitely a cruise, you should get some good deals in September and you'd get a perfect balance of relaxation and exploring.

Marrakesh or Nice

We’re going to a 5* hotel in Austria next week for three nights for my 40th. Off season you could get a week of hiking in the mountains for around your budget.

We're going to Norway in the summer and there's lots of day cruises from around Bergen if you don't want whole week one. Also beautiful train rides e.g. Flam and things like white water rafting around Voss. Hotels in Bergen are pricey - we've gone for an apartment booked via Novosol which has own motor boat. Around Alesund looks nice too and Atlantic Road over to islands. You can fly in and out of Bergen. We are flying from Oslo. Oslo to Bergen route quite a few attractions on way as alternative, also wildlife safaris like moose and lots of reindeer in the national park.

I second the cruise idea. only unpack once different place everyday. Chill out and rest and sun time with as much culture/interest as you feel like at every stopping place. Dine out aboard and sleep as the ship takes you somewhere new.

Best holiday I've ever had was a week in Berlin. It cost us a lot less than 2k and that included a fairly nice hotel and a Michelin starred meal as well as all the tourist stuff, so you could have a really excellent time on your budget (or just do yourselves a kindness and not go with Ryanair like we did!)

Depends, this time of year probably do a 5 days in Paris- 3 near Disney then the last 2 go closer into the actual city centre.

If it was summer I would for sure go somewhere in Spain involving beaches, water parks and themeparks!

Lucky you having been offered this opportunity, I hope you find somewhere and enjoy it!
