If we like Camden where else in London would we like to visit?

DD are due to go to London for a weekend soon.

Previously we've been to Camden a couple of times and loved it (like the general feel/vibe of the place, the markets and shops, the interesting stuff you find for sale, the people watching, lots to see and discover when you're walking around).

Where else would we like?

Back in the 80s I know Kensington market was interesting, but does that still even exist ? Covent Garden is a bit meh.

Are there less obvious places?

Brick lane. They have a market on sundays called the Sunday upmarket

How old is DD? If a teenager maybe Shoreditch/Hoxton? Geffrye Museum, indie shops and restaurants.

Brick Lane, Spitalfield Market, Shoreditch, Southbank, Greenwich Market. Sitting on a barge in Little Venice.

Yes, Kensington Church Street is lovely.
Portobello Road market too.

Definitely area around Brick Lane. Book into one of the many "street art" tours for an overview of the area and then spend the rest of the day exploring at your own pace. Lots to see any day of the week (the market itself is mainly cheap, crap clothes and general tatt, but the surrounding area is what you go for).
I also really like Broadway Market which is posh food plus few clothes and crafts / homewares - that's on Saturdays at London Fields.

Kensington Market is long gone!

Portobello Road/Notting Hill is good. The market has a specialist vintage clothes market area. Grab a cupcake at the Hummingbird Cafe or Portuguese cakes at Cafe Lisboa, maybe catch a film at the quirky Electric Cinema with it's cosy sofas in the evening. Lots of nice bars (if they are adult), restaurants and cafes.

Brick Lane/Shoreditch are also good. The secondhand market is on Sunday but there are lots of small markets in courtyards around the area that are open all week, loads of vintage clothes shops and clothes boutiques. Get a bagel from the 24/7 Beigel Bake or some Indian Sweets at the Sweet Centre. Avoid the curry places on Brick Lane (Tayyabs in Whitechapel 5 mins away is legendary). Nearby there is also Box Park (a shipping container "village" with shops and cafes), Spitalfields Market (independent fashion, vintage, knick knacks, bars and cafes), Petticoat Lane (lots of high street fashion with the labels removed at knock down prices), Hoxton Square (bars and cafes). If you fancy lunch or dinner in Europe's highest restaurant, Duck and Waffle is near Liverpool St station (you need to book).

Wow! Some fantastic ideas that sound perfect, thank you!

Brick Lane, Spitalfields and Portobello sound particularly promising.

Off for a google.... Smile
