Booking a holiday.

Hi, my nan has asked me to go with her to book a holiday but with all this brexit stuff I've told her that it's not really a good idea as if we get no deal she could lose her money. I'll admit I'm pretty ignorant about politics and I'm not sure if this is correct or not? Can anyone help so I can give her proper advice please?
Ps I know there are worse problems in the world but my nan seems to think the travel agents wouldn't sell holidays if they knew there's a chance of cancelled flights etc.

Well, we've booked holidays to Europe for later this year. You can't put everything on hold just in case. Am sure it will all be OK.

If you book a package it’ll be fine, if it got cancelled you’ll get your money back. It’s not as straight forward if you book flights and hotels separately though.

Everyone I know has booked holidays in Europe for later this year. I'm not sure what people expect to happen really. After March we'll just never be able to fly to Europe again Hmm

I wouldn't personally book flights for few days after 29th March, in case of no Brexit. Later in the year, yes so there's time to sort out issues (unless Article 50 is extended till June and then same problem may arise).
And make sure your passports have 6 months till expiry date when travelling.

NerrSnerr · 23/01/2019 12:28

What do you think the issue would be later in the year? I possibly wouldn't book around the date just in case there's teething problems but there won't be any problems later in the year. The rest of the world go on holiday to Europe so why wouldn't Brits?

When does she want to go? Generally you will find better deals online.

As pp said I would avoid travelling around 29th March but it will be fine.

The one thing to bear in mind though is that in the event of no deal the exchange rate is likely to tank. If you pay for your holiday in full that will be fine- and refunded if it is cancelled for some reason- but it's a reasonable idea to buy your holiday currency now.

I booked our summer holiday to Majorca today and I can honestly say I did not give brexit a thought.
