I seem to have finished a few things recently and was hoping someone might have some recommendations for me based on what I have watched/ listened to in the past. I should say I watch/ listen to other genres too, but these examples are specifically related to genres where I don’t really having anything lined up to watch/ listen to.

Netflix
The Rain
Mindhunter
The Sinner
Safe
Ozark
The OA
Fargo

Podcasts
Serial
S-Town
Dirty John

Breakdown is the closest podcast I have found to serial- it follows one case through the series and it’s very well presented.

Also recommending my favourite murder and teachers pet

I'm enjoying a Finnish cop show/murder series on Netflix: 'Deadwind'. And there's a good Norwegian once called Borderliner.

Podcasts:
Death in Ice Valley (atmospheric real-life Cold War mystery)
End of Days (about the British people caught up in the Waco siege)
The Teacher's Pet (as pp said)

I have been a podcast addict for a few months now - love them and am getting so much housework done!

blueskydays · 23/01/2019 17:33

Netflix:

  • Sex Education (new series - binged it!)
  • My Crazy Ex Girlfriend (if you like musicals)
  • Wild Wild Country (doc series about a 70s cult - insane)

Podcasts:

  • Criminal (lots of great linked-to-crime stories)
  • Multi Story (bit like a British version of This American Life)
  • The Butterfly Effect (really interesting look at the impact of online porn)
  • Teachers Pet (fascinating story... but is a bit long winded imo)
  • Death in Ice Valley (unsolved mystery from Norway - hoping there's a series 2 as it's a great pod but no solid ending so far)

Have made a note of lots of the other suggestions - really useful thread!

Monster (by the same guy that did Up and Vanished) is also very good, first series I though was just ok but the second series, about the Zodiac Killer, is on now and great (though a bit scary to listen to late at night! Confused)

Also Cold, about the disappearance of Susan Powell, is very good. Quite similar to the Teacher's Pet (which I loved) but a Mormon couple in Utah.

This a great thread, have taken note of other recommendations too! Smile

You might also try Evil Genius on Netflix.

True crime pod cast I’d recommend generation why and casefile.

The staircase as a pp said and I’ve just watched abducted in plain sight which was really bizarre and very gripping.
