Does anyone else not know what they weigh?

Got asked weight at a hospital appointment today. Can have a rough guess but don't know, as haven't owned scales for years. Woman looked at me as though I'd said something really weird.

I tend to go by my clothes, if they're getting a bit snug, I'll watch what I'm eating (and more importantly drinking Wine ) for a bit until they feel better.

Have memories of my Mum weighing herself almost daily it seemed with the corresponding mood swing according to what the scales said that day, so was never really interested in weighing myself.

ExH had scales and I popped on them occasionally out of idle curiosity, when he left with them never felt any need to get my own.

Am I unusual, should I be weighing myself regularly?

My hospital always weighs me before I go into an appointment. Maybe the weird look was because she thought you had just been weighed but were claiming to have no clue what the scales said?!

LookImAHooman · 22/01/2019 19:12

No idea. (Pretty much) recovered anorexic and scales are v v triggering so we don’t have them in the house. We go by clothes fit. Did have to borrow my lovely neighbour’s once to weigh the Christmas turkey!

Mind you, I do get a similar reaction every time I tell them I have no clue how tall I am - even tho they also have to measure my height each time I go there because I pay no attention to that part...

I don't really get why I'm supposed to remember my height. It's not like I need to know it before I try to travel underneath low bridges.

Haven't weighed myself in years. I don't see the point, if my clothes stop fitting I'll know to reign it in Grin

No idea - just live life as healthy as possible

I didn't for years and years and I got from plump to obese. I lost weight, stopped weighing and put it all back again.

Lost it again and kept on weighing fairly regularly (I prefer to weigh every few days rather than weekly).

Stopped again and put on weight. 'Luckily' only a stone this time so I've caught it before I go back to square one. But I can kid myself about clothes being cut wrong or picking styles which fit at my waist then flare out (am an hourglass/pear shape) so I stay the same size.

I need to weigh to keep accountable. Dds weigh themselves about once every 3 months if that usually when there is a reason like a school project or car seat issue - dd2 is tiny and only just reached the weight limit to come out of her seat.

Dh weighs every month or so but his weight stays the same and has done for 20 years.

halfwitpicker · 22/01/2019 21:36

I weigh myself once a month.

dangermouseisace · 22/01/2019 21:44

Me! I get obsessive about it if I have functioning scales...

TulipsInbloom1 · 22/01/2019 21:45

I know. But only because I am actively slimming down. Up until 1 January 2019 I could only have estimated.

TheLastNigel · 22/01/2019 21:46

Me. I also don't know how tall I am exactly 🤷🏽‍♀️

3boysandabump · 22/01/2019 21:47

I don't know. I was last weighed nearly 6 months ago the day before my c section and I'm too scared to get back on the scales 🙈

mizu · 22/01/2019 21:56

Don't know, roughly 10 stone I think, sometimes a bit more probably. Never weigh myself unless on the rare occasion am at the doctor and I pop on the scales cos they are there Grin

We don't have them in the house.

JustMarriedAndLovingIt · 27/01/2019 11:27

Yes but I am not sharing in public 😬🤦‍♀️

AviatorShades · 27/01/2019 11:49

Think I'm about 8stone,think I'm about 5'2"and a bit?
Kitchen scales only here which go up to 5lb,, oh! and a 6"ruler, tho I've also got a 7.5metres decorators measure.

So, definitively, I can say that I weigh more than 5lbs(!) and my height is more than 6" but less than 7.5 metresGrin

And what's this bmi bit about then? Absolutely clueless there - and how does it even matter?

redexpat · 27/01/2019 12:32

I grew up in a scaleless house. I get weighed sometimes at the drs. But i dont know if i fluctuate.

DustyMcDustbuster · 27/01/2019 12:38

I only know (roughly) as hospital weighed me. I said I didn’t want to know, but she fucking said it! Angry

@AnoukSpirit this I don't really get why I'm supposed to remember my height. It's not like I need to know it before I try to travel underneath low bridges made me snort Grin

Charley50 · 27/01/2019 12:51

Funny you started this thread as I've always fluctuated between 8.5 and 9 stone. Or so I thought, not having weighed myself for years. I jumped on some scales at work the other day though and I was 10 stone 5 lbs! I think they were broken.

AbsolCatly · 27/01/2019 13:38

Nope - am overweight as now have a muffin top and boots that won't do up over my calf but couldn't give a monkeys on actual weight just going to get off my ass phone and move more with less choc and biscuits :)
