I like a good coffee but wonder if this machine is any good. Seems to be a lot of deals in just now. Thanks.

They aren't plastic. I send mine for recycling (the pods are 100% recyclable).

Because saying something is simply better for the environment when we don't actually know is misleading.

You've got he impact of production of the pods, the electricity used when using the machine at home, and the recycling process, and all the other hidden processes.

You've got the impact of millions of kettles being boiled for every cup, the plastic/glass/card containers and the production of instant coffee with all hidden processes.

You've got the energy used in coffee machines like yours, the larger quantity of coffee grounds used per cup, the non recyclable packaging and all the hidden processes.

Each process has different possiblites for accidental waste. Damaged pods, or burst/water damaged instant or ground coffee bags. Which products have the largest ruined stock and wasted materials?

Pods could very well be a million times worse. Or they could be on par with ground coffee, but both a lot worse than instant. Or they could be better than one but not the other.

Then there's the ethics involved in production. The sustainability. The price paid to farmers etc.

We simply don't know. You ask why it matters? Because giving out false I formation to further an agenda is wrong. I would like to know the actual answer, but it's not available. You're acting like it is and like your way is guaranteed to be the best. Maybe, but maybe not. So don't judge my choices with no evidence.

To answer the OP's question, yes they are good and definitely worth the money. I've just replaced my 15 year old Nespresso machine with a new one, not because it died, but because I wanted to. Smile

The coffee is delicious, the pods get recycled and I only use enough water for one cup.

In my experience, this makes the nicest coffee at home:

Just a kettle, beans, filter paper, job done.

I love mine, had it three years and it's going strong.

The coffee is good enough but gets samey after a while.
A normal espresso machine is better but it’s a faff. A good bean to cup machine is the ultimate imho.

Love my Nespresso machine, and no I don’t regret the purchase. I had a tassimo machine before and the nespresso is far better IMHO.

The mechanisms in Nespresso machines are all the same. So the ones for sixty quid make precisely the same coffee as the fancy ones. My experience is that they make better coffee than some of the alternatives and are a bit less hassle (ie, they’re usually better than a stove-top Mokka pot) but you have to shop around to find decent coffee pods as a lot of them are shit, and it’s not as good as from a high-end grounds machine, mostly because the pressure is a bit lower.

You pays your money and takes your choice on the recyclability, although there are now compostable pods.

We have one and love it. We get our pods from CafePod instead of the nespresso shop and they're compatible, much cheaper and actually do nicer coffee.

I love mine and wouldn't be without it. I only make and drink as much coffee as I need, and we recycle the pods. Plus my digestive system handles the coffee much better than filter or cafetière coffee.
Agree that l"Or pods are the only alternatives worth bothering with.
