Smile It has just hit me. I had terrible antenatal depression, postnatal, PTSD, anxiety... It is all a blur Often get the "you are such a good mum" yet the words are kind of floating in the air. My 2yo has started to say "Mummy" a lot, in sentences. Mummy, mummy hand, come mummy. And this is it. It has just hit me. I am Mummy Smile In tears now SmileSmile When did you really realise you were finally a mum? I am a bit sad I didn't feel it straight away Sad but so happy now Smile

I realised when he was ill or upset - it was me he wanted and who somehow can make his little world better

Awww. That is lovely. I'm so glad for you. Thanks

ChikiTIKI · 21/01/2019 21:06

That's lovely to hear. Just wonderful :)

I suffered with PTSD and it took me a good while to figure things out and getting my head around it all. Still getting there really 15 months later but recently my baby has started talking here and there.

She says ma-mi sometimes but normally gets it the wrong way around and so I am becoming mi-ma/ mee-maa now. Not sure what I think about "mee-maa" but it's cute she is calling me something!

I hope you continue to feel better and enjoy more and more of these lovely moments with your little one :) xxxx

Elledouble · 21/01/2019 21:23

That’s lovely, and I totally get it.

When I realised I was the one who made him feel safe and reassured. He’s nearly four now and he says “I love you, Mummy”, which I will never get over hearing.

LunaLovesgood · 21/01/2019 21:25

That is thr sweetest thing OP Flowers

I realised at about 3 am duimring a teething night feed. I was still breastfeeding and it just hit me that I was the one DD depended on the most and I really was mummy.

she talks too much now and in sick of hearing fucking mummy every other sentence but by God I still love it

ememem84 · 21/01/2019 21:26

. When ds looked at me like this. That look. That smile. That’s when I knew for sure. I mean I knew it. But that was what sealed the deal.

I guess I am mummy then
ememem84 · 21/01/2019 21:28

I actually thought he was around 5 weeks in that pic. More like 10. I just checked the date.

But that moment melted my heart and I knew that was it. Mummy-ied.

He now says mama. Which is the best thing ever. And does the best hugs.

Hermagsjesty · 21/01/2019 21:30

That’s so lovely. Enjoy that feeling, sounds like you’ve had a rough ride getting there and you should be so very proud. ❤️

planespotting · 21/01/2019 21:32

@Elledouble stop it! If he ever says "I love you" I die in the spot
@ememem84 ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ he is the cutest
@LunaLovesgood I am still breastfeeding but somehow that didn't do it for me Smile I can't believe it took 2 years for the fog to lift!!

If you wanted to pick an age for the fog to lift though, you couldn't have picked a better age than two 😍

Once DD could talk properly and I could see her real little personality coming out around this time last year, I realised just how much fun being a parent can be.

LunaLovesgood · 21/01/2019 21:39

Also, @ememem84 your LO is ^gorgeous!

Skittlesandbeer · 21/01/2019 21:41

Breastfeeding, when she’d put her hand up high on my boob and make a little sighing noise. Like ‘everything is safe and happy, cos I’m here with just you mummy’.

Now she’s 8 and she puts her hand on my cheek. Soon she’ll be patting me on the head!

Betty777 · 21/01/2019 21:42

Awww. I was like this - had a very hard time during newborn days, prob didn't realise how depressed I was.
But now he's three and he's awesome. Great isn't it? Smile

StillMedusa · 21/01/2019 21:42

Congratulations Mummy :)
I too suffered severe PND with one of my children and it took a very very long time to feel I was his Mum.
But once that day arrived... everything got better. 21 years later I still love being his Mum :)

ememem84 · 21/01/2019 21:42

Aw thanks guys. He is a cutie. Although I would say that. Haha. He’s 15 months now and is the absolute love of my life.

I think he was smiling/laughing because we’d told him he looked like et in his blanket. Or I’d just told him a rude joke. Either way. At that point someone thought I was funny. Haha! 😍

Cherrysherbet · 21/01/2019 21:44

What a lovely post op. Sounds like You’ve been through such a lot of stress. Time to relax and enjoy ❤️

What a lovely thread. So glad you have come through the fog planespotting and can enjoy your gorgeous baby.

My ds is now 15 and towers over me! However he frequently hugs me and says “love you mum” as he is passing me 😍
