Excitingly enough I’ve spent my Xmas John Lewis vouchers on a slow cooker and it arrived today. Cooked a chicken fajita dish for dinner that was very successful but am looking for inspiration and tried and tested recipes that are really yummy Grin does anyone have any really fab ones they can recommend?!

I love a jont of gammon just left to cook in there - I don't put anything with it, so don't think that counts as a recipe Grin

I do a lot of casseroles too, as they too are recipe free - just depends what I have in the fridge or freezer.

Love a gammon joint done in mine.
I usually slice a couple of oranges, put slices underneath the joint, slices on top and then drizzle with honey prior to cooking. Delicious.
Line the pot with baking paper first though.

Curries are great to cook in one.

Whole chicken cooks lovely in one.

Mutton casserole is a favourite here.

Braising steak ( not diced ) with onion, carrots and sliced potato is lovely.

Ah the best thing I ever bought was a slow cooker. I agree a gammon joint is amazing after 8 hours on low, just chuck it in and leave it.
I do mushroom risotto- just google the BBC good food recipe. That only takes an hour and half on high. Also meatballs- I think the recipe's called Tuscan meatballs if you want to Google it. It's just meatballs, tin of chopped tomatoes, beef stock, crushed garlic and all the herbs you like. Then cook the pasta when you're ready to eat, so good. Then I save any left over sauce for cottage pie the next day.

You won't regret getting one OP. So easy and healthy and you can cook pretty much anything!

Enjoy xx

Hi op, I'm from Liverpool where he have a dish called "scouse" which is essentially a beef stew, full of vegetables and goodness which my ds will eat and is very easy to make.

Brown some lean diced beef, put in SC, add whatever chopped vegetables you like ( I tend to buy casserole packs of fresh veg from Tesco which has carrot/swede/onion ) and some diced potatoes.
Crumble 2 beef stock cubes in approx 500ml of hot water, 2 heaped tablespoons of gravy granules and stir.

Come back in 6 hours to a lovely meal.
Call it whatever you want Grin
