Please help me plan a shirt break in Northern Ireland

I’d really like to go to NI in the Easter holidays. DH and I both have the third week of April booked off. I’m thinking of getting the ferry from Liverpool- Belfast.

DH is not blown away by this holiday plan. Can anyone advise an itinerary that he won’t be able to resist?

The dc are 7 and 10. We’re quite outdoorsy. Definitely want to visit the Giant’s Causeway.

Thank you

Giants causeway is lovely and the scenery is breathtaking on the drive from Belfast. The titanic museum is also really interesting. And there is a living rural museum just outside Belfast that has actors playing the parts and it’s as though you have stepped back in time.

The Giant's Causeway is mindblowing. It's just phenomenal. You cannot beat an Ulster Fry. It's been a good while since we were last there but it's a beautiful place and too often overlooked because of the Troubles, which is an enormous shame.

You can walk up Divis and the Cave Hill in Belfast if you want a view over the city and depending on how far you want to travel, you could go hilll walking in the Mournes, though you'd definitely need good gear and map reading skills for that.

The folk and transport museum is brilliant.

There's a new water sports centre at an old reservoir not far from Belfast

A great new climbing centre in Belfast

The Marble arch caves are supposed to brilliant in Enniskillen, bit of a drive again but something different maybe.

W5 is brilliant for children. Titanic a bit of a downer but interesting.

Lots of brilliants there, but they are, honestly Grin

How many days?

BikeRunSki · 21/01/2019 18:41

Thanks for all the ideas.
3 or 4 days I guess, but flexible.

I went walking and building footpaths in the Mountains or Mourne about 30 years ago! It was glorious.

I would spend a couple of nights in Belfast, the drive up the coastal road to north Antrim, maybe stay in Ballycastle if you like quiet, or Portrush or portstewart for more lively. Use it as base to visit Giants Causeway, Carrick-a-rede rope bridge etc
