Chourchevel 1850? Help!!! FIRST TIME SKIING

So, our options are L’Apogee, Cheval Blanc, Six Senses. I’m assuming L’Apogee since our nanny is staying at the Solarium.

Our son is 1 and a half so not ready to hit the slopes yet, ideally a hotel with a child-friendly vibe.

That said, Six Senses has a ski hire below it I think.

Alao, what ski gear should I get? It’s my first time, is a ski suit necessary? How many base layers should I get for 10 days?

Anyone been to any of the ones I mentioned? What did you think?

When are you going? Makes a massive difference. I've skied in a t-shirt at Easter before (with ski pants on my bottom half obviously!)

Although you'll need waterproof trousers and coat. Mittens are better for really cold days - warmer than gloves.

I wouldn't wear a base layer top more than once or twice. But i get sweaty skiing! I never wear base leggings but I've skied st Easter the last few years and it's not cold then

Beginners don’t tend to get very cold as they expend a lot of energy learning the basics, but that also means you will get quite sweaty so some layers are necessary to stop your coat and salloppettes getting stinky

Uniqlo does good basic base layers which won’t be too warm, or use gym clothes - never Cotton t-shirts next to your skin because they don’t wick away sweat so you end up with a cold soggy T-shirt next to Your skin

I’m guessing if you are spending 10 nights in 1850, you don’t need a budget option for the rest of the kit, so your best bet is to go to a branch of Snow and Rock or Ellis Brigham, and get them to sort you out with:
1 ski jacket
1 pair of salopettes
6 pairs of ski socks
1 pair of gloves
1 pair of goggles (much easier than sunglasses when you are wearing a ski helmet)
1 buff or neckwarmer

Good advice but I wouldn't bother with the 6 pairs of ski socks - I use two pairs and that is enough.

2 pairs of ski socks to last TEN DAYS of skiing?
You'd wear the same pair of socks on sweaty feed for 5 days in a row? Envy
