TheRhythmlessMan · 23/01/2019 19:17

Is -1 a tree?

Sorry, I tend to get called DDD, which of course is algebraically D cubed or D3, so I think of TTT a T3, forgetting that the T stands for Two.

DadDadDad · 23/01/2019 23:08

Please let's keep to the square roots of positive numbers. Yep, I'm keeping it real... Smile

TeenTimesTwo · 24/01/2019 08:07

I'm happy with Teen, TTT, T*2 or T^3. Smile

Oh I missed the bit about the aborigines.

Not so strange, I lived in Central Asia, and all driection at all times were given as compass points.
(Ok, not put your hand up in class, that is goign too far)

So - can you tell me where the chemist is? Yes go south down this road, take the first turning to the east and it is on the north side of the street.

I never. had. a. clue.

Still have to think which is NSEW in my own house and garden and my street name is XXXX NORTH, with the one over the crossroads being XXXX SOUTH as the two roads run north/south between two places. So it should be easy. I still struggle.

ErrolTheDragon · 24/01/2019 11:43

If you can tell where the sun is, and know roughly how long it is before or after lunch, you can estimate south pretty easily.

Road signs aren't always a good clue, especially in the US where you can find sections of road which are simultaneously (made-up example) 57 North and 86 South, running more or less East-West.

steppemum · 24/01/2019 11:53

If you can tell where the sun is

well that's a pretty big if right there!

BonfiresOfInsanity · 24/01/2019 11:53

x = 3

I'm saddened to see that some Brit's embrace of the Far Right extends even to the rounding of decimals.
