Anxiety over new job

I have diagnosed anxiety, depression and ocd for background.

Just accepted a job offer today for a 35hr per week position in a gorgeous hotel, attended the interview on Thursday.

I'm really excited about it as I need some money and it's quite good pay.

The only downside is I have to travel 40-50mins away from home everyday by train as it's a few towns from here. I have travel anxiety about being far away from home and get nauseas when I'm anxious so the trains are playing on my mind right now! (I start Monday)

I'm 100% up for the job and think it'll be good for me as all I've been doing lately is sleeping all day (thanks depression), I'm a student (20) so will be doing my online course alongside it. I intend to go to university in September which the employer already knows but I think they're hoping I won't go!

I have a medication review this Thursday (my day off) with a psychiatrist (I recently came off my Prozac as they want to change it) so hopefully he'll be able to sort me out with something that'll help the anxiety and maybe even refer me for therapy.

Argh! Everything is so good about the job aside from the travel! Really really hoping I manage it and don't have to quit because I start having panic attacks on the trainsSad

Anyone have any advice for anxious travellers/train sickness?

Thank you!

Well done on getting the job!!

I'm a fairly anxious traveller and when I'm feeling particularly bad I listen to my white noise app, which takes the edge off. The one I have has difference sounds (not just white noise!) and I like the crashing waves the best (they also have rain, whirring fans, purring cats, all sorts).

@ameliameerkat thank you! That sounds like a great tip- I often listen to white noise (waves/rain sounds) to fall asleep- I never thought to use that in my daily life.

(Sorry for the late reply, just got back from the cinema)
