Last minute city break with 10 month old in January?

Should we even bother and where would you go?

We have the opportunity to go away very last minute as my DH is between contracts. We have less than a week so winter sun is probably out of reach and just wondering if there is anywhere we could go on a city break in Europe? Or will it be just absolutely miserable?

We’ve not really taken our DS on holiday yet and don’t have a car so going away in the UK is trickier.

What would you do?

Nicosia in Cyprus? there is a free, guided walk from the tourist office at 10am on Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays around the city

Malaga
Really easy to get to, lots to do, good weather, very family friendly. We were there at the beginning of the month and the city was full of parents with children in pushchairs, and unlike some of our towns and cities, they were made super welcome.

I'd look at getting the train to a big city in the UK, but only because I hate flying and cold weather so going somewhere hot would mean I'd need to go for more than a few days to make the torture of flying worth it for me 😂

But @gassyass makes an excellent suggestion as Malaga is somewhere I happily fly to for all the reasons stated. Won't be roasting this time of year obviously. On a similar note Palma in Mallorca is also also easy to get to, get around and enough to do for a few days, even more of the beach is an option.

We went for week in Maderia at that age and all had lovely time - would go for it. We stayed in Porto Mare apartment but there were meals, indoor pool etc on site and DS seemed to love it too, was gazing round at tropical gardens etc and smiling. Only thing found to avoid at that age is hotel room in non-family hotel.

Malaga airport has a train station and the city is only 3 stops up the line. All accessible for pushchairs, it's a doddle.

Thanks GassyAss, that’s a great suggestion - looking into it now. Also Madeira!

Nicosia is a long way from the UK for a short break (4.5 hour flight) and the weather is not great at the minute. If you're into canoeing however, go for it Grin

Malaga, Alicante, Seville, Faro all within 3 hrs of UK, all should give you a good chance of reasonable / good weather.
