Belfast with kids?

We have learned the hard way that a week long holiday is not the way to go! Have 2 boys, one 9 one 6 and am thinking about Belfast for a couple of days holiday in either Easter or summer holidays. Any suggestions of things to do, or is it just a terrible idea?! I’d love to do the Titanic bits and think DSes would like the ferry ride hence the destination.
Any thoughts appreciated!

Titanic is good as is w5 just beside it. We are vertigo is about 3 miles from city centre and fun inflatable course. City bus tour good as well. Enjoy

There’s an ice rink at Dundonald that’s very good. There’s climbing, bowling and mini golf in the same building, and cinema and restaurants across the road. icebowl

Definitely not a terrible idea, we had a week on the Antrim coast a while back and went into Belfast for the day - did Titanic, W5 and the shops. DC loved it and wanted to go back and do more.

HMS Caroline has lots for kids to do and my DC loved just exploring the boat. There are interactive activities such as code breaking, signalling, creating camouflage, virtual ship steering simulator etc.... There are normally special trails and children’s activities during school holidays.

This place just opened today. Like Wipeout for kids, it looks great fun.

Can second W5 near Titanic in the Odyssey too. You can easily spend half a day there, and perfect ages for it.

Ulster Museum is great for kids too. Easy walk from city centre and it has 3 different sections specifically for children: natural history, art and old toys they can play with. It’s set in Botanic Gardens so you can visit the Tropical Ravine and Palm House as well.

Another vote for Titanic and W5. Our kids also loved the swimming pool in Bangor, great flumes and slides.
We went for a weekend and it was great.

The folk museum is great. It is just out of the city, I think the place was called Cultra. There are streets and shops from different eras. We also loved the transport museum. I think the same ticket gets you in to both.

Thank you all, pleased to hear there’s lots to do! Plan would be to drive there so things outside the city wouldn’t be a problem. Thinking of going to the Giants Causeway too, although the kids may object to more time in the car!

The folk museum is half of the folk and transport museum. I took the DC (4&1) to the transport museum over Christmas, it was AMAZING.

Just out of the city on the other side to the folk and transport museum is the Lisburn leisure centre which has a brilliant leisure pool with slides etc.

Tbh if you have a car you could easily do a week in and around Belfast :) if you and DH are foodies go to St George's Market.

Giant's Causeway seconded. Worth being a NT member.

Tour bus. Very informative. I'd never appreciated that the Falls Road and Shankhill Road were parallel to eachother.

I'd rather do Belfast with kids than Dublin!
