Report inspiration needed! Calling business/HR leaders

I'm studying for my CIPD Level 5 in Human Resources. My assignment is due in tomorrow (!!!!) and I have drawn an absolute blank on what to write it about.

I essentially have to come up with a research question (e.g. If we paid our staff more would they be more engaged, except not that because it is a rubbish vague non measurable question but you get the idea). Research it, critically review three sources and then make business change recommendations based on my findings. In the structure of a report to my CEO.

I CANNOT THINK OF A SINGLE THING TO WRITE ABOUT.

I started one of would the introduction of an HRIS improve engagement with millennial employees (because that ties in with what I'm currently doing at work) but can't find enough sources to critique or stats to back up my findings so back to the drawing board.

PLEASE HELP MEEEE Smile

What about something about flexible working as lots has been written about that recently, relating to everyone but in particular a lot focused on millennials and parents, carers etc. Some great case studies of companies doing it well and not well.
Or diversity in the workplace? How to encourage greater diversity and encourage mums back to work - that does relate to the above?

Employee Experience is a real hot topic in HR these days.

Why not watch a TED talk by someone like Jacob Morgan to get you started

Benefits of employe surveys, mood questions, having duvet days... look at innovative ideas elsewhere and see if they would work across the Board, such as free food/or just fruit, in offices and health benefits?

Can we design a employee policy that is trans-friendly under GRA2004 but does not trample on the protections granted to women under Equalities Act 2010?

There are a million responses and references in the Feminist forum.

I'd go with flexible working, review it and then propose a measurable trial most likely. Employee engagement and experience is measurable - in terms of qual and quant data and you can tailor goals, etc., to the business - and you can also benchmark against similar organisations and the wider market.

Oh I love Jacob Morgan! I referenced him a lot in my last assignment about the changing world of work. That TED talk has motivated me to get up and do something (after coffee).

Flexible working is an interesting one... I also quite like the whole duvet day thing... Working from home etc.

Better stick my laptop on!
