Black / bloodshot eye. Recovery?

Posting for traffic because it has been two weeks now and my iris still looks like I have Hallowe'en contacts in! Could it still be bleeding? Anyone with any experience please advise. Starting to get worried.

It was a fairly bad one I think because I'm bruised all the way down to my lower lips on that side of my face.

I have a mild clotting disorder but I'm not registered with or able to get to a Dr (very remote / no car) No other symptoms. Thanks in advance ☺

Go to an opticians. Don’t leave this please. It’s important you get this checked out. The opticians are able to check everything and know if you would need further medical attention.

Go and see an optician. People on this forum really cannot give you advice on this, the optician needs to have a good look

How did you get your injuries?

snappedandsharted · 17/01/2019 23:32

Definitely go and see an optician ASAP! My husband had this and they found blood vessels had burst in his eye due to undiagnosed dangerously high blood pressure

There isn't one within a ninety minute drive (Scottish Highlands) but it was due to trauma so not a health issue. Just wondered about the timescale. Thank you.

Even if caused by trauma it's a health issue. You could lose your sight if it's left.

BF888 · 18/01/2019 11:52

Even still it could’ve caused damage to the eye. I would personally make the 90minute journey with no doubt about it.

I’ve been an optical assistant in a previous job, and if anyone came in with what you’ve described we would’ve treated it as emergency.

PoliticalBiscuit · 18/01/2019 12:04

I'd definitely make that journey to get it checked out Flowers

Is everything else ok?

Njordsgrrrl · 18/01/2019 13:59

Yes it's fine thank you. Stupidly went out in a gale - self-inflicted!

My nose was numb for a few days but Google said only to worry if the numbness reached the teeth. It's just the red eye that's making me think "hmm"

I don't have a car but a neighbour is going to the city the weekend after next.

Can you ask for a telephone appointment with your GP? Or make it there instead?

Njordsgrrrl · 18/01/2019 16:10

Thanks to all who have taken the time to post 🙂Staying with someone who has already had too much time off work.. GP is 50 minute drive, I won't make it before the surgery closes. I think it might be a bit better. The iris isn't completely red, some yellow "whites" showing through.

There must be some people who have had this and know a usual time frame. It's MN - the stupid accident threads are full of injuries and toddlers are notorious for thumping toys in faces, or was that just my DS? 😕 That was ten years ago so I don't remember the recovery period.

Telephone appointment is an excellent idea! I'll ask if they can treat visitors. Thanks again 💐
