Sunday night light tea ideas

On a Sunday, we have a roast dinner at around 1pm. Usually the kids have a sandwich at around 5ish, and me and DH stuff our faces with crisps and cheese and stuff later on.
However, we’re both now on a diet. Not a particular one, just eating healthily and fairly low cal. Last Sunday we had crudités and hunmous with a warm pitta.
I can’t think of anything to have this week, or in the coming weeks. All my brain can think about is cheese. Any ideas?

Salad with 30g cheese or a boiled egg
Veg soup
Beans on toast
Fruit salad with Greek yoghurt

Bruschetta
Soup
Avocado on toast

I like toast with cream cheese and olives or capers. The cream cheese isn't too bad if it's not full fat.

I’d have Sunday roast at 4-5 and a light lunch instead

When I was a kid, Sunday night tea was my favourite cos we got to choose and daddy cooked it. We had

Eggs of some sort and toast
Soup
Grated cheese on toast (use less)
Daddy special which was lots of salad y bits and toast and some kind of pate but all made to look all posh and special

I had since added avocado on toast or houmous and pitta to this for my own kids.

My brother used to love tinned ravioli but it was the 80s

FatandSassy · 17/01/2019 20:01

Crumpets
Toastie (ooh I used to love these when my mum made them)
Brioche and milk
Milk and biscuits or a slice of cake and a cuppa
Cheese and crackers
Prawn cocktail/cold toast with some kind of topping/cheese on toast type effort
Scones

fatpatsthong · 17/01/2019 20:04

Can I raise your crumpets and suggest crumpet pizza. Again easy to limit the cheese and crumpets are lower in calories than you might think. I am going to have this on Sunday now

Nnnnnineteen · 17/01/2019 20:04

We do late breakfast, early dinner to avoid this issue. Growing up, it was always cheese (cheddar, primula), pate and crackers in front of Allo Allo.

LittleMachine · 17/01/2019 20:22

We used to have our roast later, but we like having it all done and dishes done so we can relax in the afternoon.
Some good suggestions, thanks 😊

@fatpatsthong you're the only other person I've heard of who also makes crumpet pizzas! They are my dad's go to food to make (the only thing he can manage, mind you!) and I regularly have them, they are my favourite!

Frittata using leftover potatoes. With chopped peppers, onions etc

Ivegotthree · 17/01/2019 21:52

Nigella's eggs in purgatory - google for recipe. So delicious.

Or scrambled eggs for ease.

Or homemade baba ganoush and pitta.
